First time playing this course since spring. I will say it has improved. Greens are much better than last spring. Tee boxes fairly improved. Fairways are pretty hard but for the money, I will return.
Great experience
Their course was in great condition considering we just had two hurricanes, the staff were great and very respectful the amenities were great and food was very good. Will be returning 100%
Coming along
The course is nice and they are making great improvements
Not what I expected
After hearing the course conditions had greatly improved I couldn’t have been more disappointed. Although there is more grass on the fairways and some of the greens are improving there is still a ton of work that needs to be done for me to return. Charging $40 dollars for a $20 dollar golf course is ridiculous, until this course gets back into shape they should lower the price to a fair amount.
Steady improvement
Really like the layout of this course. If us vastly improved. A few greens and fairways are still struggling but the team is working hard to get them in top top shape.
Much improved!!!
Can't speak to th 9 hole Pine Course. But the 9 hole Cypress is looking good. Tee boxes are in good shape and the greens are as nice as several courses I play!!! Knowing the course had several past years of poor maintenance, I would give the grounds crew a gold star for the great work in turning it around. Keep up the good work!!!!
Needs Lots of Work
Course has its issues and needs much work completed to bring it back to its former glory. It will take two years at best to make it happen. Many $$$ needs to be put into the project ( new sprinkler system, continual weed treatments, cart paths are are not in good shape.
Membership said they are moving on which is sad to hear as Sugarmill Woods was a goof golf course in its time.
Vast improvement
Front 9 are showing great improvement. Back 9 are coming along slowly. Fairways and greens are so much better.
Course Needs Sprinkler System and lots more!work
Sugarmill Woods, like its sister course Citrus National, needs a new sprinkler system and pronto. It is sad to watch a course in decay.
The tees & fairways need considerable work. The first 5 greens are playable but the other 13 needs considerable amount of work and new sod put down and rolled.
There is plenty of crabgrass down each fairway and needs constant monthly chemical treatments. Red flags are prevalent beside broken sprinkler heads. Cart paths are dangerous and could cause a twisted ankle at any time.
On coming down 18th a new visitor would see rusty old equipment on the left hand side with old green rollers covered in weeds. Not what you would expect on a quality golf course which Sugarmill Woods management need to work on and bring it up to PAR and spend $$$.
Sugarmill management must spend $$$ as it will take two years to bring the course back if at all.
Pity,. as Sugarmill Woods and Citrus National were two very good golf courses in their heyday.
Dusty mill
Fairways need a ton of work. Greens are coming around but need mowing and rolled.
I feel they will get this course under control in a couple of years.
Improving
Course is definitely improving but not great yet. Greens are rough. Give it a chance, it is improving.
Still rough but getting better
The course is definitely on the right track. Fairways are better a!though the secondary needed cut and I lost 3 balls to the tall grass. Greens are still rough but showing improvement.
Hot summer greens
Corse is in average shape for a Florida summer. Greens, at the time of play, weren’t in great shape, some were patchy. Some had longer grass than others and some were barren of any sign of grass at all. Look for a discount coupon before playing a round and you might not be too disappointed.
Dog s&$@
This course is absolute dog s&$@.
The fair way and greens are like playing sand constantly. 1/10
Needs a little TLC but will still play
Played recently and saw that they are currently upgrading the irrigation system. Does this course need work? Yes but you cannot put a price on the treatment given at this course. Ive played at many courses and Sugarmill makes me feel like it is a home away from home. The layout is amazing yet challenging. Granted the greens and fairways are in need of work but the new owners are trying. The staff here is amazing, kind and courteous always going the extra mile. For that I will continue to support this course.
Getting worse
We have been playing this course for awhile. I know they are trying to get it into shape, but the greens are crappy and the fairways are almost all dirt.
