About
Atypical of many Florida golf courses, RedTail Golf Club is a links-style layout dotted with 100-year-old oak trees and azaleas among its rolling green fairways. Designed by Dave Harman, who also did Shingle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, the course features four lakes with water coming into play on the last five holes. Holes 14-18 work their way around the largest lake on the course, while the finishing hole's approach shot plays over another body of water in front of the clubhouse. Located in rural Sorrento a little more than a half hour north of Orlando, RedTail Golf Club prides itself on catering to "members only."

Golfer Reviews
Pleasantly surprised!
First time playing the course and very happy with it. Greens are good and roll true. Rough and fairways could use a little work. But layout and surrounding area was cool. Will definitely go back when I get a chance.
Round at RedTail
This course has an enjoyable layout. Some of their greens and tee boxes continue to be spotty, although
fairways were in good shape for the most part. The driving range has been closed to non members for several weeks which I find irritating. If they are going to take my money, then open up the range so I can get loose
before my round. The putting area is well maintained but the chipping/bunker facility is in poor condition.
Maybe if ownership spent more money on improving the course/facilities, they would get more play from
the public as well as an increase in their meager membership numbers.
A challenging course
Went there with a friend in the afternoon. The course was in magnificent shape other than a few minor spots on the greens from previous ball marks and such. The fairways were beautiful, bunkers were plenty and you probably should bring your A game if you want to score well. The greens were super fast. Had a few wide fairways but tee shots need to be accurate for birdie opportunities. If you don't have course management skills, you will likely score high here. Greens are good size so you can still hit the green and still have a long birdie putt. I thoroughly enjoyed playing this course and look forward to trying to break par next time.
just not very good
The winter overseed is fading out. Lot of bare spots in fairway. greens spotty or patched. Off fairway conditions bad. U can see that a lot a bushes and trees thinned out around water and site lines though. Hard to be positive not much to love
Getting better
Greens are getting better than it was a month ago but still need work. Not many people out there so pace was good. You can tell the greens crew was working to make it better. Still a lot of weeds on the course but overall for the money was not bad. Will be back, such a great layout if they put money into it could come back
Got worse
I really want to like this course …. It has a good layout… but the conditions are from bad to worse!!! I played 3 weeks ago and it was a little better than this last time …. Really undesirable… no even for the deal !!! Good luck and I hope it gets better !!!
Wow, what a great place. Love the layout. Spectacular views. 14 of 18 greens in real good shape. 4 had some problems but it was so far from pin it didn't matter. Tee boxes good for the most part. The rough is truly rough. Not tall grass but rather bare ground and crab grass patches. You should go.
Coming back
I have played Red Tail numerous times throughout the years and the course has definitely seen its share of ups and downs. We paid $55 for all you can play and it was worth it at this price point for sure. The course is definitely back on the way up with most tee boxes, fairways and greens in pretty good shape. The greens were fairly quick and smooth with some rough patches here and there but overall, good shape and definitely better than some other courses in the area. The rough, well, that's the tough part. If you are off the fairway, expect some pretty harsh and bare lies and it will cost you a few strokes. But, it looks like they are working on the main parts of the course, tees, fairways and greens so if you like a challenging course and are ok with the drive, Red Tail could be a good option as long as pricing stays in and around this area.
Really working hard on making course improvements.Rain and nice weather will continue to help with course improvements!
Course conditions
The greens and fairways have gotten much better since the last time I played a few months ago.
Ok golfing, not a good experience
Conditions were okay. Extremely disorganized staff because of a tournament. No range golf balls were available for warm up. They blame it on the tournament, they weren't prepared to handle. 45 minute late tee time. 30 percent of the greens are un-puttable, bare rough bumpy spots. Very hard to find balls in the fairway. This course use to be one of the best in the area, not now.
.
Still struggling
I read a lot of positive reviews. Unfortunately redtail is not worth playing. Yes fairways and most tee boxes are in good condition. Greens were fair.
However, around ever green is a joke. Either dirt or dirt mixed with patches of crab grass. Maybe next year it will rebound.
Still fighting some bare spots and wet/mud areas.Seem to keep trying to make improvements.
Greatly improved
The course has improved dramatically in the three years since we last played it. The fairways have been over seeded with rye grass, making the fairways very playable. The greens were also in decent condition. Hole number 7 has some water issues but that is understandable with the amount of rain Florida has received this year. Proshozp was also friendly. Could use a Marshall and/or starter. Overall an enjoyable able experience and will play it again
very good conditions
The greens were very good compared to most of the courses that I have played recently in the Orlando area. The fairways and tee areas were very good. The staff was very friendly.
Miracle
If you saw this course this summer and fall, you would have thought that it would never recover.
This course is in great shape. Greens are plush and run pure. Fairways have grass and are truly defined. The rough is definitely not fairway but it is not sand and nasty. It’s fair.
As always, the staff is very friendly, courteous, respectful, and helpful.
If you don’t believe in miracles, go see this course and see how they transformed it.
It is a Miracle
