Fairways are dying. Greens are dying. What isn’t dying is overgrown. Just overall failed maintenance lately.

Wow I thought paying for a great course you would think the staff would worn you of some issuing the course paying over $50. Trim tee to green missing grass and sand everywhere. Most tee booster sand or weeds no lush grass. The fairways you are looking for live grass to hit off of. The poor greens have problems in several ways the birds are digging up the greens looking for the bugs underneath.. if any type of fertilizer was on any greens no damages would happen from the birds!! This is such a beautiful layout goo to waste by the leadership and so called owners of this course.. sad shape

They do not take care of this course at all. It was very overgrown in. Areas and had weeds and bald spots everywhere. The fairways looked like the rough and greens were half bald or pitted. The only saving grace was there was no one on the course so pace was my pace which did make it a little easier to forgive the conditions

This used to be my all time favorite course in the area to play. I’ve been playing here for more than 10 years and the course and the golf club have seen many ups and downs.

I knew they were going through some difficult times with new owners that didn’t care about the golf course but WOW. They should not be allowed to charge money to play there! ABSOLUTELY UNPLAYABLE!

Good luck finding anything resembling grass on the tee boxes. Impossible to putt, it’s all sand and dead grass. So many fire ants and bugs all over the course, the ground is literally moving from all the insect activity.

The cart path on 18 is in such bad disrepair, they’re rerouting cart traffic right over the ladies tee box.

The greens are in terrible shape from lack of water, insects and cranes feeding on the bugs.

Apparently they fired their golf pro this week so they could pay for fertilizer, according to one of the grumpy guys in pro shop.

My advice, save your money and the headache and go play a course that actually wants to stay open!

Red Tail WAS a good course for many years. I've played at Red Tail about 40 times in the past decade and it has always been a well groomed, slightly challenging public course. I went out there for the first time in more than a year and it was DESTROYED. From tee to green the course looks like the owners gave up on it. There wasn't a single green that did not have patches of grass missing. Several of the tee boxes are dirt and the fairways look the same as the rough.

Save your money and go elsewhere until they bring this course back to it former self.

I know it's the middle of summer in Florida but this place was in such bad shape it seemed abandoned. Driving range was dirt and weeds No grass on Tee box’s and you can't tell the fairway from the rough. Greens even worse. Bunker's 😂. This place used to be so nice.

Normally a pleasure to play but they have had mechanical issues and had lost their irrigation system. I will go back next year after conditions have improved.

Very disappointed in the course conditions. Greens were in horrible shape, fairways in need of maintenance. Have played Red Tail many times & it has definitely gone down hill in the past year. Very disappointing!

Wow what a great layout is about the only part that is positive in this review. I did not see one green that had dirt mounds, dead areas that are getting close to half the green size. Was told that the pumps were down and could not afford the electric bill to run the others. Most tee boxes if you call them that had sand rather than grass. Then the fairways you had to move your ball in the middle of the fairway to actually find grass to hit off of. I have seen cow pastures with greener grass.. save your money and go somewhere that is better for your golf game..

This course is in such trash terrible disgusting pathetic condition and at the price of $60, thats so criminal you’d think it is being operated by money laundering human traffickers!

No way whoever owns this knows a thing about golf. They are either dead broke. Going bankrupt. Money laundering or the biggest group of fools you ever saw.

I saw the gm limping around. Probably because he gets his butt chewed out everyday for creating the worst course in central Florida. I mean, how can you be worse than metro west!? Redtail says hold my beer.

Def save your money and don’t play here the entire place is dead burnt orange turf.

When we checked in we were told their irrigation pumps have been out for several weeks while waiting for parts.

The course was totally dried out and brown. Bare spots everywhere. Pace of play was great as almost no one else was on the course.

It will probably take a few weeks to return to good condition even after pumps are repaired unless rain helps out a lot.

It's a great course, wish I could have given a better review.

It is shameful how much this beautiful course has fallen off. It appears that management has given up on taking care of the course. Everything was brown and overgrown. Ant hills on the greens, half off the greens were patches. Hopefully it will return to it's former self. Not worth the value at this point.

I hate to write anything negative about this course. I have played this here too may times to count and love the layout. While it’s seen better days it has been on the mend and making progress as of late.

Unfortunately they lost their irrigation system and most of the grass is dead or dormant and the greens were in horrific condition. These things happen and I would not normally write a poor review under these circumstances.

My big issue is with the clubs management When I booked this on GolfNow 3 days before my Sat August 12th tee time there was no mention of course conditions. When I check in I noticed the 18th looked bad and the person working the pro shop mentioned the irrigation issue. I could not have imagined it was as bad as it was given the lack of notification on GolfNow. The damage was widespread, every single fairway, completely brown and dead spots and weeds all over the greens.

If clubs can provide notice of recent green airification or other negative conditions there is no excuse for failing to mention the horrific conditions. The rates were not reduced or that might have tipped me off after the round. I complain to someone working in the pro shop and they said well we can give you $10 off of the next round and a bucket of balls. That is not enough to make up for the lack of honesty about the conditions

Such a nice layout. It’s just chewed up all over. Tee boxes were poor, fairways were a mess. Had to relocate ball on green because of sanded indentations all over the green. Why would the green keeper put pins near dead spots? This Could be a great course but it’s not being take care of. Guess I’ll take this one off my list , this course will take a fre years to recover

Course is not what it has been in the past several greens need attention as well as tee boxes.

The course had dry and dead grass pretty much all over. This was surprising considering the amount of rain we have had lately. This was not the case at nearby County Club of Mount Dora. earlier in the week. It was disappointing.

Another course that is ran by amateur keepers.. great layout going to waste by greens keepers and staff that are clueless! It’s unbelievable how bad this place has gotten so quickly!
