Eagle Dunes Golf Club
About
Eagle Dunes Golf Club in Sorrento sprawls across rolling elevation changes that aren't typically found on central Florida courses. The course also claims to have the area's truest putting surfaces. The layout stretches to just over 7,024 yards from the back tees. Long hitters will be pleased about the opportunity to grip it and rip it but ball placement is an important factor. The golf course is punishing even if you're only slightly errant. The vast sand traps seem like you're playing across a desert and the occasional water hazard comes into play as well. The wide, player-friendly fairways help to balance the challenges of the golf course. Since opening in 2003, Eagle Dunes Golf Club has garnered a strong following amongst locals and has earned the distinction of being one of Gold Digest's "Best Places to Play."

Nice greens
Very nice layout with good greens but fairways are disappointing. Would have rated this course much higher if not for the fairways. Nice layout and a good challenge.
This course has got character
This course has got character. Great layout with many elevation changes, oversized bunkers and water hazards. We did not see any eagles but lots of sand bunkers. A more fitting name will be Sand Dunes. The pace of play was excellent - finished in 3.5 hours The staff is friendly, courteous and helpful. The oversized greens are in good shape and predictable. The fairways are mostly decent with some dry areas, some bare, rough spots and weeds here and there which are exoected at this price point. The tee boxes are nice and flat and in fairly good shape. Overall, we found this course to be very enjoyable and offered good value for money. We will certainly play it again especially on Golfnow Hot Deal.
Improving conditions
I have been playing Deltona club for years and witnessed its ups and downs. Greens are sandy but roll ok. Average speed and, because they are sandy, don't always roll true. Fairways are ok, traps need some work (green side bunkers are fine but the other "water/rain capture" bunkers have too many weeds in them. The staff are always friendly and great at what they do. Hopefully, the greens will get back to the great condition that they once were.
Okay if your expectations are low
Let me start by saying how nice the staff members in the clubhouse are. Very friendly and helpful. We got off right away and there weren't many golfers on the course...probably due to the threat of rain. The course itself was in rather poor condition. Maybe it's just the way it is this time of year but every fairway had limited or thin grass and some areas where it was more dirt than grass. If your ball landed in an especially sparse area and you don't like hitting off dirt, you had to look for one of the many tufts of weeds that had popped up all over the fairways. We thought the greens were generally in better shape than the fairways but several had bare areas or spots that had been repaired so putting wasn't always easy. At $42 for this time of year, I guess it's okay as long as you aren't expecting a lot. Maybe just to get out and hit some balls around. However, to a person, we all agreed we would not return for a while in the hope the course improves in the meantime.
Winter condition
Greens were fast, but still have lots of condition issues. Fairways need grass and watering, tee boxes are in rough condition. Great layout, but needs some attention.
Great Value
Tremendous Value for the price. There aren't many courses in Orlando this time of year that are under $60, and the few I've played recently in that range don't compare to Eagle Dunes. The conditions weren't perfect, but they were better than average and it has a very fun layout. No complaints, I'll be back.
yuck don’t do it—-
poa greens tee boxes average at best fairways looked burnt out and bunkers were not maintained
45 each for the course on a hot deal is embrassing
it’s probably worth 20.00 at best-
they need to put a lot more money into it - period.
course layout was fun- course condition terrible
eagle dunes - you guys can do much better
EAGLE DUNES IS A DISGRACEFUL GOLF COURSE.
STAY AWAY!
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Thursday Afternoon Golf Outing
Well even for $35 pp I would not recommend it. All tee boxes were in bad condition. Front 9 greens were sparse grass and mainly dirt. Back 9 greens were better.
Staff are great, pace of play was good and the layout was nice.
Priced Right
Eagle Dunes is worth playing for the price. A really good layout but only average to below average conditioning. Fairways are dry and spotty but if you don't mind rolling the ball it's a fun track. Greens are average and playable and are consistent hole to hole. The staff is pleasant and accomodating. I'd play it again when in that area. A good value.
Nice Layout
Course was in typical shape for a non-overseeded course in the winter in Fla. Fairway grass was thin, rough was bare and sandy in spots, but you cannot expect a good lie if you hit it in rough. Greens held shots and putted quick and smooth. 1 or 2 greens had sand in bare spots, but it did not come into play. Starter was friendly. Will definitely go back. Price between $30 and $50 ie=s definitely worth playing.
