Alaqua Country Club
About
Alaqua Country Club was designed by golf legend Gary Player and opened in 1988. Player put his personal stamp on the private 18-hole golf course, with its elevated tees and other features that make it playable for his level of golfer as well as high handicappers.
Alaqua Country Club leads off with a 501-yard par-5 hole, a picturesque tee shot from an elevated tee. There is water on the left all the way to the green and a wooded area on the right. The fairway narrows the last 50 yards to the green.
The golf course measures 6,662 yards from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 72.3, and it has a slope rating of 129 on Bermuda grass

Tight with great layout
Great layout with undulation and doglegs with no two holes the same.....winding through beautiful Alaqua Estates....having eagle on number 4 an added bonus! Several deer on course that acted like they owned the place and wouldn't move until you were a couple of feet away. WOW!
Very enjoyable
The views, scenery, challenging holes and wildlife all added to the enjoyable day on this golf course. Greens ran true.
Good but not great.
Fairways and greens (average speed) are in good condition but grass is sparse on tee boxes and it's hard to find a flat spot to tee it up on most of the holes. Renovation of a greenside bunker was in progress but the 3 workers and the tractor stopped while we played through. Very scenic course if you can overlook the housing development built around it. Lots of fully grown trees similar to a northern course rather than the leveled orange groves typical of many Florida courses. Give it a try, but bring an extra sleeve of balls.
A good Gary Player design in need of a little love!
A great old lady that needs some attention. Played here numerous times in the early 90's. Kinda sad.
A fun course!!
A real treat to play at Alagua. The course was in good condition. The greens were in good condition. I only wish that I would have hit more of them in regulation. Oh, one more thing to add. I got my first Ace (aka 'Hole in One') on number two. After our round we ate at the restaurant. Great food and even better service. Thanks Alaqua for a great day of golf. I'll be back. John C.
great time
course in real good shape, staff was the best, and at 3.5 hours for 18 holes you cant ask for any better.@ 19.99 better still. only issue no snack or beverage cart this time. JOHNNY D
Great pace of play, Excellent condition of course and greens, Beautiful and challenging design, Friendly Staff
I cannot believe in the last 15 years of my golfing experience, I have never played Alaqua Country Club, and regret it after my experience yesterday. Not only does this course have a challenging layout, but it was in pristine condition, greens had great speed and rolled true, and the pace of play was right at 3 hours for 2 of us, with never a hold up of more than 2 mins on the next shot. Add to the fact that the staff are very friendly, and you have a great time no matter what you shot.
I will definately return, and it is now on my top 3 courses to play locally. Thank You for the great price Golfnow, and Thank You Alaqua Country Club for the great experience.
The elevated tees are fun!!
This is a great course that demands accurate drives, and a must if you are playing in the Orlando area.
Excellent course! Great condition!
Good course, fairly open with a few challenges. Had a lot of fun and course staff were very friendly!
Had a great day on a great course.
Wanted to play this course for some time now.
I was not disappointed. It met all of my expectations.
We had a really great round here.
just not my type of golf course.
pretty course and friendly staff just not a golf course that I enjoyed playing, has nothing to do with the condition or staff because those were both great. but when you stick a golf course in a housing community its not a lot of fun. some holes reminded me of a bowling alley. if you spray the ball on occasion like me dont come here cuz youll be in someones backyard most of the time and hitting 3 off the tee.
Great Track in beautiful setting.
I've played this course numerous times and again the conditions were good; I'd say a 9 out of 10. Only two greens were bad but the others were consistent and rolled very good. What do you pay - Green Fees and they were worth it. Yes, for the Golf Now price it was TOPS! As McArthur stated, I shall return and highly recommend others play it.
Great condition, challenging and enjoyable for all player levels.
Immediately after pulling up, I was greeted by a friendly and knowledgable bag assistant and welcomed us to the course. I told him this was my first time playing Alaqua, and gladly gave me a few tips on playing the course. The amenities were great, and the course was in fantastic shape (despite the winter season). Scenery on this course is definitely not a shortcoming, and neither is the wildlife. I came across several families of deer while playing, as well as a few others. A few isolated greens and challenging hazards were a nice touch to the course. I would definitely play this course again. In fact...I'm considering a membership at Alaqua...which is also reasonably priced.
Some of the most scenic holes in Central FL!
A beautiful golf course with several memorable holes.......some being the most scenic in Central FL! Most holes are challenging - there's not many opportunities to relax. All you can ask for in a golf course when it's dry. Even when it's wet, there's still all the scenery and wildlife to compensate. One of those courses that excites you when thinking about it on the drive there.
Course was in great shape and the staff was extremely friend. They advertised it as being a member for the day and that is how we felt.
Couple of issues for such a private course: 1) should have had bottles of water on cart; 2) should have had a towel on the cart: 3) no gps system on the cart and virtually no sprinkler heads to help with yardages.
Great older course
It's a tight shorter course, only 6500 from the tips. The greens are very small but in great shape(except hole 1 green in bad shape). Fairways were soft but in good shape. It's a private course that doesn't get much traffic which makes it a great deal for $19.99. You better hit it straight off the tee or you will be in for a long day.
This course has great features.
For a novice this course can be challenging but has a beautiful and creative layout.
A real thinkers golf course
Course was very challenging and required various club selections from the tee. Tight fairways and undulating greens made for a real test of your golfing skills. Wild life was an unexpected bonus with Deer wandering the course and a Black Bear waiting for a wayward tee shot on 17.
Great golf course, especially for the special rate.
Tough course, but good greens, and tight fairways. Back9 was like a wild habitat .........with Turkey, deer (hundreds), the usual Florida birds & foul, but the Bear kept me from searching for my teeshot along #17. Staff was excellent, and round was most enjoyable. I paired up with a couple of newbies to golf, so we did take some time searching for balls, but that's not the course's fault.
This course is in a great setting and overall a great value.
The tee boxes and fairways are in great shape. Some greens are under repair. The course has some challenging holes and interesting wildlife throughout the course. We had a lot of fun playing it.
That black bear pic is amazing! Hopefully you were in your golf cart just in case a quick escape was needed.
