this course is very nice and challenging. we will comeback!
the play was kinda slow that day, unfortunately there is no marshall that could've directed the play with the 2nd group ahead of us (4 adults). the group behind us (3 adults and a woman) was so rude they are hitting the ball when we were still in their range on hole #1 and 2. When we stared at them, i think they got the message. its a gentleman's game, they should know some etiquette even if they are new to the game or not. its just simple courtesy... i guess sometimes we could not filter out those kind of people.
Great Value...greens rolled perfect...
Fairways rolled out... and my only complaint-is the Fairways were soggy on the front nine-mainly within 100 yards of the greens.
This was a very enjoyable day...Check in was a snap-I would highly recommond the course to my friends.
Better than I recalled
The price is unbeatable, but that also meant lots of players who don't move quickly. It took 5.5 hrs for the round (started pretty much on time for a 10:45 AM tee time on a Saturday). I was a single paired with a threesome and they were friendly and made the day bearable. The weather was great, so all in all it was a good day. There are not many memorable holes.
Fun course, back nine is tough...
Great day on the course....good conditions, challenging course.
Always Freindly
Sunset Whitney (Rocklin Golf Club) is a great place to play. Lots of challenges with some water and unforgiving OB areas but just as many holes with feel good opportunities.
Pace of play can be very slow at times. Not sure if its because of how the hole stack up or the degree of difficulty of some holes
While the clubhouse is a little dated; the staff is exceptionally friendly.
Even at the full "rack rate" this course is a exceptionally good value and I will continue to try to get out there a couple times a month.
I have always loved this course
The course is a great layout and it's an awesome course, but, it was a little more weathered than usual. There were quite a few mud pits where my ball was sunk in fairway and I must have repaired 30-40 divots on greens. Since it has changed to Rocklin, it seems to be not getting the attention that it needs.
Greens in great shape
The greens are great, but the fairways are thin with lots of dirt. I was told they had a water main break this summer. At least there is a reason for the fairway conditions. Looking forward to playing it more when the grass gets growing.
old course in good condition
Facility is dated but fairways and greens are in great shape. Overall course is well maintained with tee boxes being only area that needs work .Staff is super friendly. Course does not play as difficult as slope would indicate from white tees (130). A great value considering low green fees.
Fair
Course requires maintenance attention, especially in the sand traps/bunkers. Course had to much moister on areas of the rough and water standing in many of the mud bunkers. But it is a good course and will play it again once it is brought up to par.
Rocklin review
I have played this course before and is always a challenge. The course was in good shape except for being quite wet. Not sure if this was due the weather or a miscalculation
Good Course. Good Value
Good Value for a better than average course. Greens were in very good condition.
Great prices
The golf course is in great shape, has great customer service, and the rates are very reasonable. I had a great time playing there and will play there again.
this course has a great layout.
Former country club so hole setup is great. You can see how this used to be an outstanding course. Greens were mostly in good shape with a few having bad spots. Fairways were very dry on some holes and due to broken water mane. Sprinklers on in the middle of the day on a few holes. Still a fun course and with some money could shine again
Beautiful Course, one of my favoriates
This a beautiful course. It is well mantained. The course can be difficult if you have an errant drive, but not so difficult that you can't get back on track. The greens are very challanging but well maintained and not dried out. Every chance I get,I try to play the course.I'ts never taken me more than 31/2 to 4 hours to finish. I like the oldnest of it. I will continue to play it as long as my swing doesn't get to ulgy. I have taken my friends out there and highly recommend it.
Horrible
That was the worst I have ever seen that course it was discusting I wil never play there again the fairways were dirt and the greens had big dead patches you had to putt over freaking awe full
Greens were good but not fast. Some fairways had bare spots but soft and got no run on AUGUST 1!
This place has changed ownership several times over the past 5 years. Has just gone public. Looks like they're keeping the greens long to protect from the heat. They putted well, just slow. Held shots well. Generally good condition with several bare crusty spots in fairways. Otherwise too soft from over watering.
The course is straight forward with good greens in good shape
The course has made a turn around since it was purchased by the owner of Morgan Creek and Wildhorse. They have improved every part of the course and have great $2 specials through July. They should extend that special.
The course is in good shape, the only bad parts are in the rough every once in a while but overall its an 8 out of 10.
nice older course with some character
great staff, inexpensive golf, food and drink. always plays fast even with no marshalls. very laid back. could use a little water but then it is july.7/23/13
Awesome, old-timey course
Played this course with my buddy, and it is a really great find. Great value course, in excellent shape tee to green. The course is set up to score very well, if your game is with you that day (I was massively hungover following a late night @ the state fair, my buddy wasn't, and despite not playing well, dropped a 76 on my 90ish round). It is not a boring flat course, a large number of fairways are wide open, and not challenging, but have well placed contours in the fairways to create a large number of blind tee shots. It has a throwback, classic country club feel, but has been well maintained. I would, however, like to see the bunkers get the TLC they sorely need.
