Franklin Canyon Golf Course

The course was in better shape than previous reviews led me to believe, but still shabbier than my usual picks. The tee boxes, fairways and greens were in good condition. The greens were getting hand watered while we were playing. Now if you stray off the fairway, you will end up in patchy rough or hardpan. (There's your penalty for spraying the ball.) I can accept the conditions in this perpetual drought environment IF the green fee is lower than the local competition.

On a weekday afternoon, our twosome played in 3:45.

I used to like playing here, now it’s slowly getting more and more run down. It could be a top notch course if they kept it up better.

The pace of play today wasn’t horrible, I teed off at 12:10 and finished at 4. Hardly anyone out there which was nice.

There was some wind which picked up in the afternoon, but the overall temperature and conditions were very good. The course could use some water, but with the current drought in California I'm not surprised. We got around in less than 4 hours so I'm happy with the round

This course has potential. It is set in the valley/hills and could be pretty good. But the conditions are TERRIBLE. tee boxes uneven and chunky. Fairways have tons of weeds and flowers. Greens are bumpy and dead in spots. The bunkers were ok but that is it. Staff was nice though. I don’t think I’ll go back.

The tee boxes were very hard, tough to place a tee, greens were recently plugged, no sand but very hard and fast. Hard to stop approaches on the greens. Not sure if there are water problems but the tee boxes and greens could be softer.

The tee boxes were horrible, very little grass and hard as a rock. Greens were good, they are still recovering from being punched. Fairways were good as well, some bare spots.

Had a good time at Franklin. We had a 7:20 tee time on a Sat morning and the pace of play was good (we were sitting down for lunch in Concord by noon). Had walked the track many times for junior tournaments but never played it myself before this. The layout was solid and not too hard. Some shots were narrow so you needed good aim/accuracy. Course conditions were decent - tee boxes OK, fairways good, greens very good. We had a prepaid tee time and everything was set up and ready to go when we arrived (our carts had signs with our name and tee time) so we didn't really interact with the staff much other than to confirm our group and tee time. Kudos to their staff and operations for being so well organized.

Lush fairways, tee boxes in great shape, greens run true. Pleasure to play, would play again.
