Franklin Canyon
The course is in the best condition that it has been in a very long time, possibly ever.
Old School Course with no Houses!
The greens are in good shape all the rain has made conditions soft cart paths only (it is way to soft to drive on) . The spring at Franklin Canyon is spectacular very Green! The players that play bomb and gouge are going to loose a lot of balls if you play that way bring plenty of Ammo!
Great for an early tee time
Went out at 0700 and had a fast paced round. Conditions were a bit swampy due to large amounts of rain earlier in the week. Greens aerated recently (last week or so). Lots of Par 3s and 5s.
I am biased
This is one of my favorite courses. Last time I played, 6 weeks ago, the pond on on #9 was overflowing, flooding the approach to #9 green, which I parred anyway. That I would book in such conditions shows that I am a Mudder, 78 years old at that!. Yesterday, conditions were way drier and I managed an 80, although playing as a single.
As living just outside the Lake Chabot course in Oakland, I will continue to make the one hour journey to Franklin Canyon as I enjoy it so much.
Brian Peck.
Needs work
i like Franklin, but the tee boxes were in bad shape.
Front nine greens were also hit or miss.
Still muddy!
Really bad experience
Driving range was closed on a Saturday morning so we got there an hour early just to wait around. The extra taken out of the amount online was spread through out all golfers so it was more difficult to pay. Every tee box was hard dirt, the marshal was rude, no cart girl, the "meal included" only consisted of a hot dog.. no drink, no chips.
The course is in extremely bad shape
I played there yesterday...03.09.2017...We were not told carts were on the path only when we booked...then came time to play...I lost 6 golf bolls hit on the fairway...ON THE FAIRWAY...THE COURSE IS IN SUCH BAD SHAPE IT IS HORRENDOUS...I tried to speak with the general Manager todaqyn 03.10.2017...he was obnoxcious...defensive and utterly unsymapathetic to me and told me to stay off his course and not play there ever again...he copared his course to Tilden Park, which I won't play because i know its drainage is horrible...when I reminded him that other public courses charging approximately the same amount...such as Hiddenbrooke, Eaglre Vines and Chardonay, Indian Valley...had no issues ...Kyles response was they have better drainage...of course they do...why don't you do something about it Mr. general Manager Kyle...instead of ragging on me...he also told me that he played there the day before and lost only one ball out of bound and when I told him I lost the balls in the fairway he belligerently asked which fairway...I tld him 3, 13, 14, and a couple i cant even remember and said oh yes we know about that...sorry never playing here again
Great Track
Franklin Canyon is a great track once it dries out from all the excessive rain
Cool Course
Franklin hasn't changed since the last time I played several years ago. They were a little overpriced for the very wet conditions but all things being considered the course was in good condition.
Call before boo
I received an email saying that the course was drained and it was not lots of plug balls
Great time out
Franklyn caynon is a good all around golf course. During the drought it was pretty dry but now that it's been raining, great course.
Challenging but fun course
Got to play Franklin Canyon for the first time on Monday. Seeing as it was after the holiday break it was very packed but the pace of play was rather slow . The greens were fast but fair.
Had a good time playing the course.
Franklin Canyon, great value
Played on Veterans day so there were a lot of people out. Since the course has 3 of its four par-3's on the front nine, that nine plays a little slow but speeds up on the back nine with only a single par-3.
Fairways are recovering from the drought so you can often find your ball lying behind or in front of a tuft of grass which can make for a difficult lie. Greens are in good shape. Tee boxes will benefit from winter weather and re-seeding.
Good Value
Good value when playing on a special rate. Tee boxes not particularly level but greens in good condition. This course should not take 5 hours to play but it did.
dealing with the drought as best they can
We played a few hours after the West County Amateur tournament, when we'd get the best course conditions of the year there. The greens were pretty smooth and the pin positions were trickier than usual. The fairway landing areas were OK, but many rough and in-between areas were dry and/or brown.
Most amazing was that the course in the morning after the tournament was nearly empty on a pleasant, warm Sunday! The driving range activity was pretty dead, too.
Franklin Canyon Review
Franklin Canyon has a great course, diverse, challenging but fair.
Good course
Good course and good value
Greens are Good
The course was in decent shape but the greens were in really good shape. Last time I played here they were slow and bumpy. This time the greens were true and almost fast.
