Good course, great staff
Greens are in great shape, just a couple brown areas in the fairways, better to use the water on the greens (smart conservation practices). Enjoyed the round, will definitely be back soon.
Songs The Same For Franklin Canyon
Good parkland course on front nine. Blue tees are a good turn. Holes 11, 13 and 15 are top tier holes. Fairways have mostly grass and a few dry spots, off fairway is dry. They are managing the course well at this time and watering where needed, keeping dry where needed too. Greens are always ok, never too slow, and sometimes very good. The course is good/average for the area, and I play here often enough and for the last 20 years. Would like to see course offer more single golf now times, as it seems there are more for 4 player promos.
Friendly staff and paired with 2 friendly golfers.
Not worth the price
Course conditions were dreadful. Dead spots everywhere, times when you were hitting off of dirt when it should have been 1st cut. Greens rolled true and were smooth but slower than a shag rug.
Tee boxes were dreadful with no flat lie to be found. I won't be back
A Course Worth Playing
I like to play different courses so I play this course maybe twice a year. The fairways were in good shape, bunkers like most courses could use a little more sand but not terrible and the greens were in pretty good shape (people were fixing their divots). Picked a great day to play, started to cool off and had a little breeze. All groups ahead of us were playing at a very nice clip, we finished in 3-1/2 hours, we were a twosome but there were foursomes out there. There are some holes that require you to be pretty precise or you get yourself in trouble. I really like the course and will play it again. P. S. One thing I try and tell myself is that these are not golf resorts, we pay a lot less so we can play more often. Resorts have a lot of eye appeal which does nothing for your game. Just a thought when writing a review.
We played as a two some around 11:30, slight
breeze off the bay kept the weather good.
Course is a good condition, particularly the
greens, fast but not too fast.
Good views of surrounding area, no houses, some
farm animals and a local train.
Overall, a good value for the money.
Take nothing for granted
Fortunately I played the day of the eclipse so pace of play was with good quick good greens were in pretty good shape and always a challenge for each hole to think of what you're going to hit
Good course for the price! Fun course!
The course was a lot of fun. Quite a few fun holes to play. Some nice elevation changes. The fairways were very well manicured. Some parts of the rough were really hard where there was not any grass. Overall a lot of fun. I would play it again for the price. Affordable, fun, and good pace of play.
This course you should play, but not at full price.
Due to the water restrictions, there are a lot of dry spots. The greens were not consistent and some were fuzzy and slow.
Not a course for the occasional weekend player!
What you earn on the front 9, is taken away on the back 9 with its elevation changes, tight fairways, trees and lots of bunkers.
Pace of play
A contribution to the pace of play would be matching one's handicap to the Teebox location i.e. white, blue, etc.
Poorly maintained
Unnecessary slow play, no marshal anywhere.
Fivesomes with people walking should not be allowed.
Spread out tee times would help.
Making an effort
Course was in good condition for mid summer. Slow play and bottlenecks have been this course's nemesis in the past, but things seem to be improving somewhat. Well done guys
Staff
Staff not polite course dry even though they charge $1 for water. I am also charge an additional dollar even though I slough what the on line says what I owe.
Great golf course
The course is nice ce, a little tough and challenging. The kind of course you play and want to go back and play it again many more times.
Underrated Value Course
Solid course. Interesting that the front nine favors a draw and back favors a fade, is a good mix for shot shaping.
Muni course feel but the greens roll quick and true. Enough trouble to keep it interesting but not too penal. Tucked into a canyon with no homes and minimal street viewing which makes it feel secluded.
Fairly flat course with the exception of a sizeable hill on the 2nd and 13th you need to climb.
Great selection of beers on tap at the 19th
Bring the wind cheater
Frankie was in great condition after a light summer rain a few days earlier. Well maintained fairways and readable greens should make for an enjoyable round. You get to use all your clubs from the blue tees, but we played whites this time to match the skill of our guests. That said, the wind kicked up after 4 holes, and made for a helluva challenge. A fine track I consider a staple in the lical rotation.
Good value muni
I went as a single and met two other singles. We teed off around 7:00 am and were done in 3 1/2 hours and I walked while my companions each had a cart . I booked with GolfNow and only paid $35 although the guy in pro shop wanted $45 until I showed him the confirmation email from GolfNow.i had not played here in perhaps 12 years but memories of the holes came back as I started each one. The course is a nice layout with no two holes alike . I would give it 6 out of 10 for conditions but for the price was well worth it
Nope, Disagree, golf course is doing much better than before and looking forward...you mention slow play but say poorly maintained? This is a good parkland course. Been playing here over 20 years.
