Excellent pace of paly
Very poor conditions on the tee boxex
Only because my friend is a member
Pace of play was slow because I was playing with the members. Tee boxes and fairways need some work. They did take out a few trees which is nice for good players. For higher handicapped players, they want to take too much off #7 and their now hitting into the players on #8. Greens have always been pretty good at Franklin. Next time my friend and I play again, it will be something in Solano County for the same price but much better playing conditions.
Poor Franklin...
Played Franklin Canyon today. This has the making of a very good golf course but lacks attention. The tee boxes are a mess: broken tees everywhere, uneven areas, what grass there is is brown and on some holes you need a hammer to get the tee into the ground. I broke 3 tees trying to get them into the ground!
The fairways are ok but grass is thin and already browning. The greens are ok with damage and brown spots on many of them.
I was hoping the winter rains would bring the course back but it needs way more attention.
Fast Greens!
Greens are really slick and fast! I was very surprised, by the back nine I learned that I needed to play my shots about 10-20 yards short to account for the roll. One bummer was the sand traps, a lot of courses in the area don't have sand, making shots extremely awkward and difficult. Some of the traps seemed better than others, but most of the greenside bunkers were really packed and tough to get under the ball.
Staff is always friendly here. Pace of play wasn't great, we were a twosome and got stuck behind a lot of foursomes so we had nowhere to go. It was fine because it allowed us to take our time and we eventually finished in a little over 4 hours.
Fun but needs TLC
This course could be a fun trac but definitely needs a bit of maintenence. The greens are small compared to most but rolled well considering they hadn't been kept up very well.I'm guessing this is as good as this course gets with the last few weeks having considerable rain and it still was quite dry there. There greens are mostly flat with minimal andulation.
Great value
First off with the rain the course is in great shape. The value even better, 25 bucs to ride 18 is awesome. My only complaint is the sand traps... It's like hitting of cement. Other than that great place to play
Great course
Paid $34 with cart. Great price. Started on time and the course was in great shape. The greens were rolling very well, a bit hard though. Had a great time will definitely play there again.
gr8rig
Course has bounced back from a dry summer. Green every where.
Greens rolling true.
For a good time, call Franklin
After a brown 2015, Franklin Canyon has bounced back nicely post-rains. Course was in terrific shape, both greens an fairways! I would have appreciated a softer landing on the greens, but made the adjustment by hole 3. Great price, sunny day, paired with a nice 2-some, and never had to wait. What's not to like?
Good shape
Well worth the 30.00 to ride.
Conditions Still A Little Rough
Carts were on the fairways, but fairways and rough had not been mowed and were on the high side. Not much roll on the fairways, but the greens were generally good. The course is in a beautiful valley, no homes in site. Interesting layout, very pretty area. Pace of play is always on the slow side due to 7 minute tee time intervals and the fact that the course can be difficult for higher handicaps. They need to spread out tee times to 8 or 9 minutes to improve pace of play. Also, the course opens with a par 5 followed by a par 3 which always causes a bottleneck.
good course for a fun day
The day on which we played was sunny and with light breezes. The course was slightly wet from three days rain. The fairways were cut and slightly slow, not much run out. First cut was a bit grabby, and deep enough to make it hard to find balls that landed four or five feet off the short grass. The greens were very slightly bumpy and were fairly true.
Staff was helpful, and had a regular marshall keeping play pace up. midday round took us about 4.5 hrs
This course has some very challenging holes.
I especially like the way you get a little of the hill playing and the ground level. They seem to mix it up just right for me. Thanks for a great round.
Great course poor staffing
Great course, good conditions. Stacked golfers pretty tight. One staff member for food and drinks. One person running back and forth from food to bar. Long waits. No beverage cart. This is a new issue with this course. Might be awhile for me to return.
LOTS OF FUN
Even though I still can't carry the ravine on 17 I had a great time. The pace of play was excellent, the Marshall moved everyone along smoothly.
First timer
First time playing Franklin Canyon. I was pleasantly surprised at the course layout and the condition of the greens. Pace of play was very slow for a Tuesday 10:00 am tee off. I will play it again, the value is certainly there.
slow after 10 am way slow at noon
same as above but course in good shape
Nice Place
Greens were in great shape
This course has a fair layout.
Many areas have ground under repair. Many of the tee boxes need rework. The greens are in fairly good shape.
