Callippe Preserve Golf Course

Started the round at 11:30 finished at 5:25 on a Monday. slowest course I’ve played in the Bay Area.

I came to Callippe with high hopes hearing it was a fun great course. That did in fact meet my expectations.

However no course quality could overcome the gruesomely slow pace of play. Every tee box a 5 minute wait to hit. Every second shot a 5 minute wait to hit. Each hole took at least 20 minutes. Perhaps things could have gone faster but there was no marshall in sight.

If you don't care about long waits to hit and enjoy a 5+ hour round then this is a great option as the course is very nice.

Started 10 minutes late, finished 30 minutes late.

excellent course, still one of my favorites in the bay area. pace was a bit slow but course was in decent shape for a cold wintery day. some dry patches throughout and some bunkers had animal damage, but overall everything played pretty well.

The course had a nice variety of well maintained fairways and greens. The course gets much more challenging on the back nine. Where the topography and hazards increases significantly. The course is surrounded by rolling mountains and nice new homes which makes for a very scenic outing.

A major downside was the 5 hours and 50 minutes playing time on a Monday. The longest I have ever encountered. The tee times were set every 7-8 minutes apart. Consistently we waited for two foursomes to hit at each hole. One reason may have been the course requires a better than average player and they did not have marshals monitoring time of play. The chances of losing balls is much higher than your average course. Thus many players were hunting for their lost balls.

Even so I plan to return for a second round there as the course is very nice.

Poor pace of play 5 hr and 15 minutes. On back nine waited up to 10-15 minutes to tee off. Course condition relatively poor when compared to when I have played it in the past. Greens however in very good condition.

Great track when it’s in good shape. Course Not in good shape right now. Greens were good though.

Enjoyed the course and the wildlife, very beautiful course with decent pace in the afternoon. But there were lots of overwatered spots that had been trashed and should have been identified as “ground under repair” as they sat in the middle of the fairways.

It was my first play. I enjoyed such a beautiful scenery during the front nine. And then it went downhill. Backnine was unbearably slow. Couple played with me left early because it was too long. I couldn’t finish either. I have no idea what happened in back nine. They should do a better job to maintain a reasonable pace.

I might play again to see if it is just one off.
