Ridiculously slow play, no oversight
The title says it all. No one is making sure that people play at a reasonable pace. Many times there were multiple groups on tee boxes. It’s ok to play bad, just play bad faster!
Never saw a marshal on the course, never saw a beverage cart either.
Pleasant Surprise!
Gorgeous country club setting. First time played. Well trapped, good fast greens, good condition. Will play it again...and often.
Callippe doesn’t disappoint.
One of the best public courses in the East Bay.
Pace of play can be an issue because a lot of people don’t understand golf course etiquette and keeping up with the group in front of them and there’s a noticeable lack of on course marshals.
Each hole had its own character to it
Loved the location it’s views and the subtle challenges whether it was reading the break on the green or what club to tee off with because of a small landing area or narrow fairway that funnels the ball out of play
Good price, very short
I was expecting a little more from the course. Nothing memorable about it really. Hole 18 looked cool, but pace of play was so slow, we only finished 16 holes. Short par 4’s we’re fun with an iron off the tee. Good challenge. Can reach most par 5’s in 2 with a big drive. Play from at least the blue tees. It was worth the price for sure. Be ready for a slow round though.
Challenging greens
Overall layout is good. Challenging without being a killer. Lots of ups and downs with some forced carrys so no need to overpower the course. Greens are fast and roll fast so that can make for a long round. Don’t expect to play a speed

Excellent course! Great layout with some tough closing holes
I’ve played Calippee many of times! As I single digit handicap the course has plenty risk reward holes, that give it a lot of character. Greens were a little slow this time of play which caught me by surprise, but hey we did get some rain recently! Overall one of favorite courses here in the Bay Area, especially during mid week where you can get on for $50 with a cart.
