Callippe Preserve Golf Course

Booked 2pm time. They had us at 2:32. They say with golf now that happens at least twice a day.

Course conditions were nearly perfect. I went out as a single and played almost without seeing another person until the third of the way through the back nine. Then I had to join a threesome because they were being held up by consecutive fivesomes, and more foursomes ahead of them. Up until that point, it was a thoroughly enjoyable round: fast, fair, perfect conditions. I’m not sure if the clubhouse allowed them to go out as fivesomes or if they formed them themselves, but they really bogged it down toward the end of the day.

This course is a real jewel. I learned of it when I played Wendt Vineyard course up the road, (another exceptional layout). In fact one of their employees told me to try out Callipe Preserve. As a not I am picky about courses since I travel a great deal and get to see and play some great venues. I am not in awe of courses because of their alleged reputation, (case in point, Pasatiempo which is also in this area.....all I heard on the golf channel from their travel guy was what a spectacular layout it was.....it was mediocre at best). Spend your money at Callipe Preserve. Strange name but awesome layout. A blend of short and long holes. You better bring your A Game since it demands some precision off the tee. For the price (I paid $46) it’s a steal. I judge course quality by of it makes I on my “return list” for when I am back in the area. Callipe Preserve, Wendt Vineyards and Cinnabar Hills make the list. Course like Coyote Creek and Pasatiempo won’t see me again.

Definitely not my favorite course for cart path only conditions. Because of this pace of play was very slow, 4.75 hours and didn't play 18 too dark and 2 groups waiting. I'm too old to walk this course and under these conditions I actually had more steps than the person in our foursome that was pushing a cart. Course conditions were pretty good but definitely too wet on most fairways for a power cart. Still a fun time, enjoy playing the course.

very well maintained course, not sure what happened to spacing at the turn, bogs down but definitely a fun course to play with your friends

This course is well maintained and it is a very beautiful course. Course itself is somewhat challenging for beginners and intermediates, but not to a point which you would get frustrated.

This is a good course and strong layout but it was cart paths only and the course was very wet. It made for a Slow, wet, muddy round.

Best to play here when it’s dry.

Have played this course several times over the past years. It has always been in good condition. It is a nice mix of some challenging, some easier holes, and some quite scenic holes. It also has a touch of elevation here and there. The course pace of play has been very good whenever I have been there. The staff, course conditions and facility are top notch.

We had a great time playing this course. Even though we only got to play 9. We are looking forward to playing the rest of the course.

You better plan for a round taking 5 1/2 hours to complete....that is if you even have enough daylight. I’ve played this course twice in the past 3 weeks, “Scheduled tee-time” (We have not started on our payed for, reserved tee time once) with more than enough daylight to finish. The pace of play is so SLOW we couldn’t even get through 16 holes. Be prepared to wait!

This is my home course. Played hundreds of times. Front 9 is fairly straightforward but back 9 is set on the hills so more elevation and course management required. Holes 17 and 18 are probably the most difficult so a good round can be destroyed by the last 2 holes. Good value and conditions usually pretty good.
