Callippe Preserve Golf Course

excellent course, still one of my favorites in the bay area. pace was a bit slow but course was in decent shape for a cold wintery day. some dry patches throughout and some bunkers had animal damage, but overall everything played pretty well.

The course had a nice variety of well maintained fairways and greens. The course gets much more challenging on the back nine. Where the topography and hazards increases significantly. The course is surrounded by rolling mountains and nice new homes which makes for a very scenic outing.

A major downside was the 5 hours and 50 minutes playing time on a Monday. The longest I have ever encountered. The tee times were set every 7-8 minutes apart. Consistently we waited for two foursomes to hit at each hole. One reason may have been the course requires a better than average player and they did not have marshals monitoring time of play. The chances of losing balls is much higher than your average course. Thus many players were hunting for their lost balls.

Even so I plan to return for a second round there as the course is very nice.

Poor pace of play 5 hr and 15 minutes. On back nine waited up to 10-15 minutes to tee off. Course condition relatively poor when compared to when I have played it in the past. Greens however in very good condition.

Great track when it’s in good shape. Course Not in good shape right now. Greens were good though.

Enjoyed the course and the wildlife, very beautiful course with decent pace in the afternoon. But there were lots of overwatered spots that had been trashed and should have been identified as “ground under repair” as they sat in the middle of the fairways.

It was my first play. I enjoyed such a beautiful scenery during the front nine. And then it went downhill. Backnine was unbearably slow. Couple played with me left early because it was too long. I couldn’t finish either. I have no idea what happened in back nine. They should do a better job to maintain a reasonable pace.

I might play again to see if it is just one off.

Most courses let you book on GN, and pay for walking rate at the course - while Callippe insists on charging for carts even if one wanted to walk. Course has a few damaged fairways and bunkers.

This was the first time I played this course. Very nice and course well kept.

I’ve now played back to back Mondays (non-holidays) and the round has taken over 5 hours and 20 minutes both times. They set tee times in 8 minute increments when each hole has taken groups 18 minutes on average to play with NO marshall to be found. You literally wait and wait on every hole and hope you can finish. Regardless it’s an absolute drag of a day having to wait on every hole without anyone speeding things along. Make it semi private or be more realistic with the tee time increments. It’s a shame because the course is great.

other than being a 93 degree day, day was very nice...a little slow on pace, which didn't allow us to finish 17 or start 18 with a 2:45 tee time...back 9 is the bigger challenge..be ready!

Awesome course but beware of making reservations.

We had a reservation for 4 and one of our guys couldn’t make it cause he had a fire in his home that morning. They still charged us for him. So remember that there is no forgiveness for certain issues. But none the less, the course is great.
