The Links at Summerly
About
The Links at Summerly borders Lake Elsinore, southern California's largest natural lake. The Ortega Mountains and the Cleveland Natural Forest are also the golf course's neighbors. Although it feels nicely secluded, the Links are conveniently just minutes from Temecula. The design tumbles across a rolling terrain that is accented with 3 miles of Scottish-style burns. The natural mounding was deftly incorporated throughout the golf course. The rugged landscape, reminiscent of courses in the British Isles, gives it the look and feel of a traditional links layout. It is a formidable test that features heavily undulated fairways and an abundance of kidney-shaped bunkers. Although there are some tricky holes, each one was designed to offer several different playing strategies. Thought and imagination are required, but you will also have to use every club in your back to navigate the twists and turns of the Links at Summerly.

Fairways are a joke. No grass anywhere.
Probably the worst course I’ve ever seen. They’re not even trying to grow grass in the fairways.
Saturday Golf
Price was very reasonable. Now I know why. There was no grass in the fairways. The par 3's was good. Could not find the ball the in fairway it took to long to find it with no grass. Everything was hard pan. Greens and the book where the best part. People I played with were nice.
Great deal, fun track
I play here regularly, this is now my home course. This course has a stellar, unique layout giving you a true links experience. Staff are all very friendly and welcoming. There's a cart girl on the weekends who has a pretty good selection of beers.. Greens are in spectacular condition, the best I've seen recently. Like many courses right now, the fairways need some work on the par 4's and 5's. There are some dirt patches and the tight lies are a challenge. Excellent place to practice if you want to play regularly without emptying your pockets!
Fairways don’t exist. Dead animals.
I don’t understand how this place is even considered a golf course. Walked up to every tee box and had no idea what was fairway and what was out of bounds. These pictures must be about 5-10 years old because this place is terribly kept and maintained. To make it even worse, there was a dead owl on the 18th tee and a dead frog inside the cup of hole 10. Never coming back here, never letting anyone I know come here. The photo is the fairway on hole 10.
Golfing on dirt
This course fairways are really bad. I can't believe they charge 50 bucks too golf here.
Needs New Management/Ownership
While I have played this course a couple times in the last couple years, the conditions of the course and practice facilities (aside from the gold-blue tee boxes and course greens) were abysmal compared to those prior visits. Although the course is listed as having the capability of being over 7000 yards in length, the tee boxes for the tips are present but completely covered in weeds and brush. Course is a challenging layout and has the potential to be a destination golf course, but due to either poor management or an unwillingness to put money into improving the course, the course quality is severely lacking. Staff was very friendly and courteous, but the driving range (which was closed- likely indefinitely), practice putting greens, and chipping greens appear to have not been well-maintained in a long while. Until the course is renovated and changes management or ownership take place, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.
Memorial Day Play
The fairways are awful. Some are like playing off cement. Dirt hard as cement on a fairway, that's terrible
Good Value for Money
For how affordable this course is, it was worth it. The t boxes and greens are maintained but the rest of the course is rough.
Needs MAJOR work
Fairways were mostly just dirt and weeds. The little grass you could find was completely saturated in water to the point that it would pool up around your foot as you stepped. Greens actually did have grass and green surrounds were ok, but the speeds were very slow and very inconsistent green to green. Bunkers were rocks, no sand, and all the weeds on the walls of the bunkers need a weed whacker taken to them. Clubhouse grill had no food, and neither did the snack cart, so bring snacks if you need them throughout your round. Won’t be playing again unless they make massive improvements.
Not yet for us
We played an early morning 9 up the street at Glen Ivey . As it was a great day for golf one of the guys suggested driving down the road to The Links at Summerly a course we had not played in years. While we got on and played, the layout is neat but the condition of the course is not up to the many reviews I just read. May look at the Verified Player comments before you drive out there. A better player maybe able to get away with the sparse lies and hard bunkers. If you like to hack and move your ball for better lies you may enjoy the course. Could be a very good course but it is millions of dollars in maintenance short right now.
Bargain
Really fun track. A great bargain and perfect place to practice. Tight lies most of the time will challenge players of all levels. Greens are premiere.
So much better!!
This course has really came a long way. Greens and around the greens are a 10/10. Tee boxes 9/10. Fairways look way better than they did a couple months ago though they still have some dirt patches on some of the par 4's and 5's. Overall an excellent course at an incredible value. So happy to see things are finally improving here. Will be back later this week.
Could Be Great
Very unique track but the conditions were horrible. Less than 20% of the fairways had grass. Greens were decent but after the amount of rain we had this season I would have expected some better maintenance.
