The Links at Summerly
About
The Links at Summerly borders Lake Elsinore, southern California's largest natural lake. The Ortega Mountains and the Cleveland Natural Forest are also the golf course's neighbors. Although it feels nicely secluded, the Links are conveniently just minutes from Temecula. The design tumbles across a rolling terrain that is accented with 3 miles of Scottish-style burns. The natural mounding was deftly incorporated throughout the golf course. The rugged landscape, reminiscent of courses in the British Isles, gives it the look and feel of a traditional links layout. It is a formidable test that features heavily undulated fairways and an abundance of kidney-shaped bunkers. Although there are some tricky holes, each one was designed to offer several different playing strategies. Thought and imagination are required, but you will also have to use every club in your back to navigate the twists and turns of the Links at Summerly.

This was one of the better fairways. That’s weeds, not grass. Photo submitted by cagrimes20 on 05/29/2023

3rd time not a charm
very disappointing... This was the 3rd time playing this course. the best part was pace of play due to the fact no one was there? not crowded for early morning. Odd?
Course was in terrible condition as was the driving range. will not return and wouldn't reccomend to my golf buddies.
Great for the money!
The greens were just punched but you can’t even tell! Within 40 yards of the green is Pristine, the fair ways need a little work but overall great course.
Fun, unique
I play here 2-3 times weekly for the incredibly unique layout. This course is challenging and will test all your clubs. Greens are in perfect shape and roll pretty fast. The fairways on the par 4 and 5’s have dirt patches. We play lift clean and place for these areas, most of the bunkers included. The group of guys I play with all shoot in the mid 70’s and we love coming here.
Horrible maintenance
If you want to destroy your irons play here. I can’t believe they let this course get so bad. I wouldn’t play here again for free. Just finished 18 and seriously wanted to leave after the first few holes but was with a friend. I won’t go back. Save yourself the headache. You can hit a 250-300 driver and still be playing in the dirt, without slicing.
Turn on the sprinklers
Even with atmospheric rivers and bomb cyclones this course remains dried out and dead.
The only flora are the weeds on the edges that hide the occasional errant shot.
Green complexes and contours are good but the grass is tattered
Course
Course more like weed infested land.
No grass was seen except the putting greens
Course had weeds where fairways and rough should be .
If you hit your ball it would be a miracle to have it land on any type of grass.
Out of all the square acreage of the land maybe there was a total of .01 % of grass. I came a year or so ago and conditions were miles better.
Course management stopped caring on this one.
Summerly
The fairways need a little help, but the greens are in great shape it’s got a great layout and the views are really nice
Goat trail
Pick you poison, there's a reason it was only $38 on Sunday. Calling this place a Goat track would be an insult to Goats.
Good Course
The course is challenging at the time I played the courses in OK condition it could’ve been better.
Best value around
I play here regularly with a group of guys. We all enjoy it for the excellent layout and the challenges it presents. The course needs some work but it’s still very playable and a lot of fun. Fairways are fast and firm with some dirt patches on the par 4’s and 5’s. Greens are in great shape, rolling fast and true. Perfect spot if you want to swing the sticks but don’t want to break the bank.
Sad
It’s sad to see such a previously enjoyable course decline to its current condition. It is possibly now the worst in the entire area. I am hopeful it will be purchased by a person/entity who has the resources and resolve to restore the course to its former glory.
Bad Shape
Overall course is in bad shape. The greens, fairways and bunkers are not maintained. The course was in great shape a few years ago.
Fun layout, excellent value
I play here 1-2 times weekly. Course is looking better as of recent. The layout is unique and challenging. Gives you a true links experience. Greens roll true. Stopped at the clubhouse for a burger, fries, and beer at the turn. Food and service were both awesome. It was great to see they have a cart girl on the weekends now. Glad to see this place is getting better.
