The Links at Summerly
About
The Links at Summerly borders Lake Elsinore, southern California's largest natural lake. The Ortega Mountains and the Cleveland Natural Forest are also the golf course's neighbors. Although it feels nicely secluded, the Links are conveniently just minutes from Temecula. The design tumbles across a rolling terrain that is accented with 3 miles of Scottish-style burns. The natural mounding was deftly incorporated throughout the golf course. The rugged landscape, reminiscent of courses in the British Isles, gives it the look and feel of a traditional links layout. It is a formidable test that features heavily undulated fairways and an abundance of kidney-shaped bunkers. Although there are some tricky holes, each one was designed to offer several different playing strategies. Thought and imagination are required, but you will also have to use every club in your back to navigate the twists and turns of the Links at Summerly.

Fun course despite extreme drought conditions
Fun links style course in the desert. Tee boxes, Greens and approach (up to 60 yards out) are nice and/or green.
Due to extreme drought conditions in California, between tee and green is dead grass, dirt and hard pack. Water hazards are empty. Bunkers with pebbles/rocks.
Challenging in its current condition as most tee shots are blind due to the landscape all looking the same…lol, but still fun.
Can’t wait to play when it’s able to green up!
Terrible
This place is “golf ball” heaven you’ll lose at least 5 balls. You won’t be able to find them cause there’s absolutely no grass and your ball will just bounce everywhere and lose track of it. There’s to many unnecessary hills Tiger Woods himself can’t even find the green. Can
Fun track, great value
This course is fun and very playable. I play here regularly with a group of guys who have very low handicaps. We all enjoy it.. Greens are in good shape. Some of the fairways need work.. One thing I’ve learned is there’s always something better but there’s always something worse. We are happy to have this track as our home course.
Is this the end for Summerly?
It feels like Summerly is going out of business, I used to play here fairly regularly about a year ago, but it has been at least 9 months since the last round here. It now feels like the end for this golf course is near.
It's always been a little rough, but playable. Now, rough can't even describe it. The fairways have more dead grass and dirt than any shade of green. Most of the greens are even in worse condition with dead areas all over them.
It's a shame, I really enjoy the layout of the course. I won't be back unless something drastically changes.
Better and better
So glad this course is on the upswing. Shot my course low of a 76 today. Greens are green and rolling nice. Tee boxes are nearly flawless. A few of the fairways are struggling but you still have a nice lie even in the dry patches. I play here a lot and love what this place offers. Tried the rice bowl today at the turn and it was exquisite! Restaurant food is on point
Very disappointing
Fairways were either dirt or dead grass. Tee boxes and greens in good shape. Overall, D rating.
Overall rating
Nice clubhouse, learned what happened to the course years ago and future plans for the course. Liked the links layout and large greens
Tough links course
I enjoy the challenge of this links-style course. Tight lies on links-style fairways. Greens are usually perfect but something damaged some of the greens and they need work. Nice bar and restaurant. Great staff.
Awesome!
Played this morning. I love playing here for the challenge and fun, unique holes. This links gem is getting better every week. So glad to have this course close to home. Tee boxes are lush. Greens are in fantastic shape and rolling great. Fairways are looking pretty good considering how hot it’s been. I’ll be back in a day or two.
Poor Condition
The course hasn't changed much over the years. It was Brutally Hot, greens and tees are fair, fairways are the worst. I would have paid $20 for water if I ever seen a cart person... Never did,, sorry but we won't be back.
Awesome
Looking for something unique? This is it. It's not the fluffy lies of the country club,. It forces you to play different shots and strategize. This is my new favorite course, happy I tried it.
Unique
Loved the course. Very challenging. Not in perfect condition, but very playable. If you're a high handicapper it might not be for you. This course will definitely be in my rotation.
