The Links at Summerly
About
The Links at Summerly borders Lake Elsinore, southern California's largest natural lake. The Ortega Mountains and the Cleveland Natural Forest are also the golf course's neighbors. Although it feels nicely secluded, the Links are conveniently just minutes from Temecula. The design tumbles across a rolling terrain that is accented with 3 miles of Scottish-style burns. The natural mounding was deftly incorporated throughout the golf course. The rugged landscape, reminiscent of courses in the British Isles, gives it the look and feel of a traditional links layout. It is a formidable test that features heavily undulated fairways and an abundance of kidney-shaped bunkers. Although there are some tricky holes, each one was designed to offer several different playing strategies. Thought and imagination are required, but you will also have to use every club in your back to navigate the twists and turns of the Links at Summerly.

No restrooms on course
If you’re out on the course and you need to go the clubhouse is far far away what you going to do how about at least a porta potty come on man
It Is What It Is
It’s a “links” course. Keeping that in mind, it lives up to expectations. Players who don’t like this type of course won’t like this one. It does not have plush, smooth fairways. It has tough playing conditions and obstacles. If you accept that and learn how to avoid the hazards, you can enjoy golfing here. I do.
Maybe March is not a good time?
Conditions were very rough. Maybe the time of year but everything was brown. Sometimes hard to tell where the fairway was and out of bounds started. I’ve played during the summer and everything was very green and as depicted in the pictures.
No Carts Available
There were no carts available and we had to wait for a long while to start.
There were no carts to take us to the driving range and the starter refused to refund the purchase of the range bucket.
When we eventually got a cart, there were no empty buckets to get balls from the machine.
The course was enjoyable. The restaurant was nice.
Dead Fairways Bunkers filled with road base
I played there yesterday 2/28/22 with a group that I play with regularly at courses in the IE. All 4 of us were extremely disappointed with the condition of the fairways and bunkers. Fairways had more dirt than grass, and bunkers appeared to be filled with road base (actually I worked in the road work industry for over 40 years, and have seen road base with less rock in it) instead of sand, doing damage to clubs. We last played there about 10 months ago, before yesterday. We will not be back.

Course condition
The fairways were in bad shape, not much grass. Hard pan. The greens were good and fast, mThe only good thing.
Avoid
The course is poorly maintained. There were dirt patches in the middle of the fairway and the sand traps were like cement. The price you pay is not worth it.
Has potential.
First time playing it and I was excited due to the pictures online. When I arrived to warm up I was told the range was closed. The ball Machine was broken they said. The layout and design of the course was very cool. The care of the course is awful right now. I wouldn’t call it links I would call it a Desert course right now lol. Just needs some love. The grass was all dried up. I want to come back and play when it’s in better condition.
This course seemed to be on the right track last year. There were some rough patches, but it was getting better each month. Unfortunately, it seems to have slid back quite a bit. The fairways are rough and the greens are not much better.
Overall, this would be fine at $30, but there are several better options for the current price.
Challenging course with narrow fairways.
I really liked the layout of the course but the fairways and greens were rock hard. Being a "links" course, don't expect lush course conditions. Greens were fast and firm.
Fun Links-Style Course
If you’re okay playing a “links” course, you’ll enjoy this one. Fairways are in rough shape, but that’s typical for this style course. Not to mention, many courses in this area are in a dormant state at this time of year. It’s a short course, but burns and other obstacles make it a fun challenge.
What Fairway?
This course was as if they tried to cover the desert hills with a bit of sod, and the desert is taking it over. Super dry, really hard, sand traps were like concrete. No shade cover anywhere.
Same Old
If you like to hit odd dirt and concrete fairways and bunkers this is for you. I know the course was on the mend but it stopped during Covid. I dont think it will ever return.
The cost is dirt cheap, no pun intended, and some like me live the price but remember, you get what you pay for.
I moved here 10 years ago and this course was country club quality. The best around. It has suffered a horrible death. Nearly resurected but it stopped.
I hope somebody buys it and makes it into a course the design is worthy of
Range
They don't wash the range balls, the dirt and sand damages the faces of your clubs.
