The Links at Summerly
About
The Links at Summerly borders Lake Elsinore, southern California's largest natural lake. The Ortega Mountains and the Cleveland Natural Forest are also the golf course's neighbors. Although it feels nicely secluded, the Links are conveniently just minutes from Temecula. The design tumbles across a rolling terrain that is accented with 3 miles of Scottish-style burns. The natural mounding was deftly incorporated throughout the golf course. The rugged landscape, reminiscent of courses in the British Isles, gives it the look and feel of a traditional links layout. It is a formidable test that features heavily undulated fairways and an abundance of kidney-shaped bunkers. Although there are some tricky holes, each one was designed to offer several different playing strategies. Thought and imagination are required, but you will also have to use every club in your back to navigate the twists and turns of the Links at Summerly.

What a nightmare.
These pictures at the top need to be updated.
I should’ve worn hiking boots to play this course because of the terrain
All the grass is dead or nonexistent
The bunkers are gravel pits and destroy your clubs
Mud holes everywhere but no green grass
No trash cans, no ball rinse, no club cleaning.
This place looks like it used to be a great spot but now it looks like it’s from the movie terminator after the bomb goes off.
I’d rather play a $15 course then ever have to play here again.
Eww
This course is horrible dead grass everywhere you can’t see where your ball lands it’s like playing golf on top of a battlefield
Sunday Golfer
The course has been in rough shape for many years now, but it seems it is just going to stay that way. We had not played it in over a year, and was hoping for improvement.
Course in Terrible Consultants
Course in Absolute Terrible Conditions - Brown and not kept up at ALLLLL...
Potential
Lots of potential here. But a lot of work is needed.
Overall, a slightly sub-par experience. Think of the Links at Summerly as a VERY AVERAGE to Sub-Average muni course.
The fairways were BARREN in many spots. I'm not talking the dormant grass. I'm talking washout and hardpan. You can tell no grass has been there for a LONG time. In many areas, hard to tell where the fairway ended and the rough/waste areas started.
The bunkers.....unplayable. Think hitting your ball off the cart path....that's what it was like if you found a bunker.
On course amenities were non existent. No water. No ball washers. Few trash cans. No beverage cart.
Also weirdly the supplies were running low in the facilities....no soap in the bathroom soap dispenses in the club house and the bathroom at the driving range had no toilet paper.
Contradicting info sign at clubhouse saying range was closed....but when you get down there for the first tee you see the range is open.
Also no signage on course to say which way to go.
Thank goodness there are only three sets of tees now as you could easily see when there used to be 5 sets of tee boxes.
I'd look for other courses to play if I were you.
Needs some major TLC
Hadn’t played here in a very long time …. Cool course but definitely needs a lot of work/ upkeep especially fairways and bunkers. Carts could use gps but the book they gave us at check in was a big help. Staff was nice and nice bar/ clubhouse.
Links at Summerly
Have played this course for a few years off and on. the owners have mad many improvements from its worst conditions a few years ago. the fairways have filled out pretty well but still has some bare spots. the bermuda is dormant and no overseed so the course is brown and fast as a links course should be. this was after the rains so the traps are missing sand as are most SC courses after the rains. the greens are fair and run true with enough challenge to be fun. pace of play at noon on Sunday was great we played in 3.5 hours.
Not Now
For those who have played this course, you know….Layout is good. Clubhouse is nice. Greens are average…BUT the course conditions are very poor. I honestly would not waste my time. There are several other courses in the area at similar cost, but in much better condition l.
Good greens.
The greens were good and fast. I know it’s a links course but it is so desolate and ugly. I guess the location dictates this and not much nutrients in the ground. Value for money though.
