The Links at Summerly
About
The Links at Summerly borders Lake Elsinore, southern California's largest natural lake. The Ortega Mountains and the Cleveland Natural Forest are also the golf course's neighbors. Although it feels nicely secluded, the Links are conveniently just minutes from Temecula. The design tumbles across a rolling terrain that is accented with 3 miles of Scottish-style burns. The natural mounding was deftly incorporated throughout the golf course. The rugged landscape, reminiscent of courses in the British Isles, gives it the look and feel of a traditional links layout. It is a formidable test that features heavily undulated fairways and an abundance of kidney-shaped bunkers. Although there are some tricky holes, each one was designed to offer several different playing strategies. Thought and imagination are required, but you will also have to use every club in your back to navigate the twists and turns of the Links at Summerly.

Needs some TLC
Good links course. Just needs a little TLC. It has potential to be great.
Fun day at the links
If your not a golf elitist then you might enjoy the links at summerly.. I have been playing it for years and it is always a good time, and a test.. it ain’t no pebble beach, but it is what it is. if you want to play a no frills round of golf and enjoy the game then I recommend playing the place and forming your own opinion of it.. prices are a little steep lately compared to the good old days but that’s the post-ish Covid normal now..and the young bartender girl could use an actual human personality but other then that I love the place. (The usual girl at the bar was cool a month or so ago) but I ain’t there to drink thankfully.. but yeah the course.. Play it ! At stated it’s always fun and a test of golf

Some greens were good but others not..Fairways poor with too much dirt
Great for the price!
This is a pretty sweet track. Was having some trouble playing on the front, just because I haven’t played in a while. One of the Staff Connor was zipping around the course making sure pace of play was up to par. We stopped him to ask him about the berm going through the hole we were on. He told us 250 with no hesitation and told us how to play the shot that would give us the best possible outcome. That was huge. This young man knows his golf and it was awesome to have him show up when he did. Course is in decent shape, food was pretty tasty, staff was friendly and over all positive experience
Lake Smell Some More
When you arrive it’s great looks like a beautiful clubhouse & carts staging area was very well kept. Gentleman in the Pro Shop was friendly & courteous, beverage cart girl was very nice as well.
The Course: it’s difficult course for someone playing there for the 1st time, not sure of direction the holes go or the hidden gems (bunkers & burms) on all par 4s & 5s the “fairways” are mostly dirt & hard packed sand a little grass here & there. Tee Boxes & Greens were okay, greens had been punched recently so they are in recovery mode.
Having GPS on the carts would be huge in helping players play faster or it will be 4.5 to 5 hour rounds all the time with newer players or golfers seeing the course for the 1st time. Course has already returned to normal with rakes & flagsticks now let’s fix the fairways & this place would be really great, current rack rate is too much, used the Underpar deal & that was a more appropriate rate.
Under appreciated course
I’ve played a lot of courses in the IE. this is one of the best.
What a shame!
Such a nice layout. Beautiful setting. So poorly managed and maintained!. No Marshall on duty on a busy Sunday. Played 10 holes in 3.5 hours..That is a 6.5 hour pace of play for 18 holes. I fell asleep in my cart on number ten while four groups ahead of me teed off Why no Marshall’s, I asked.?. Staff member said, “We have more important things to do”.. What is more important than giving customers what they pay for - 18 holes of golf in a 4 hour window with a cart.
Last, I must say, the superintendent of this track would never get a job taking care of my backyard..
Golf is a game meant to be played on grass.
High Handicappers Beware
This is a difficult course. I never knew what links golf was not target golf, I do now! If you miss the fairways good luck recovering your ball. If you do then good luck getting out and back on to the fairway. The tee boxes, fairway and greens were in good shape and green. The course is picturesque and well designed. Beware of the blind bunkers, burns, and uneven fairways. Bring lots of balls, good humor, and an Arsenal of curse words. You’ll need all of it.
The course was really hard for play there for the first time.

Links golf is toigh
With the history the course has and super tough grass growing conditions the staff is really making positive changes to the course, the greens are always in good shape and roll pretty well. The only issue with the greens is all of the people who play seem to not know how to fix divots and decide to just leave them for whoever cares to fix them. The fairways are getting better all the time, I’d recommend the course of you want a tough challenging round. And please fix your divots.
beware punched greens..
Pace of play was fine on a friday at 11:45 just wish i was told in pro shop that they just punched the greens... sand everywhere..
fairways rarely any grass course needs alot of work
9 holes closed no notice
Without any notice when booking when arriving I was told only 9 holes opened when playing an additional 9 holes there was a 4 group backup including the last 2 holes on first 9 holes, I left due to the backup and also the opened 9 holes where also mostly punched and sand. The whole course should not have been opened. Hopefully a refund or some promo codes should be awarded.
Saturday Morning Tee Time
I booked a 620 tee time, but the shop didn’t open until 630. There was a group that had the 610 time too.
One guy (maybe a regular) ducked into the shop and was off before the starter was on the first hole. Teed off around 640ish.
Lots of barren spots. The course is in need of some love in the bunkers and fairways. Greens were in decent shape.the course has let some of the back tee boxes go back to natural.
I’ll skip it next time, but willing to give it another shot.
Coming along
Some people have ripped this course on reviews not knowing the history of this course, the new management has brought this course back from the dead. Sure on the sides and surrounding areas, doesn't look like a golf course, but you shouldn't be in the crud with your shots anyways, This is a links style target golf course. It still has a ways to go but it's heading in the right direction. There are still come areas on the fairways that need work but it's a ton better that it was. To see fairway grass established on #10, 12 and 13 is nothing short of amazing. Spring punching and sanding this next week on the greens will help big time in the long run. Just one suggestion, since the carts do not have GPS like at the beginning showing the burms locations in the fairway and the score card maps of each hole really doesnt show where they are running across the fairways, maybe a simple print out with better mapping for the holes with burms will help. Maybe stick it in the plastic holder above the windshield instead of the reminder about no alcohol allowed on the course.
