The Links at Summerly
About
The Links at Summerly borders Lake Elsinore, southern California's largest natural lake. The Ortega Mountains and the Cleveland Natural Forest are also the golf course's neighbors. Although it feels nicely secluded, the Links are conveniently just minutes from Temecula. The design tumbles across a rolling terrain that is accented with 3 miles of Scottish-style burns. The natural mounding was deftly incorporated throughout the golf course. The rugged landscape, reminiscent of courses in the British Isles, gives it the look and feel of a traditional links layout. It is a formidable test that features heavily undulated fairways and an abundance of kidney-shaped bunkers. Although there are some tricky holes, each one was designed to offer several different playing strategies. Thought and imagination are required, but you will also have to use every club in your back to navigate the twists and turns of the Links at Summerly.

Fun but challenging
Great value, went out at 6:30am and finished 3hours 15minutes. Fairways are dead grass with plenty of hazards hence the links style. Greens are fast when damp and faster when dry. A lot of fun, bring a few extra balls if it’s your first time playing as the hazards definitely look forward to meeting you!
Links Style course
Definitely need to know this course. Typical links style course with unknown/unseen hazards or “burns” which makes the course fun. It could be in better conditions, but just as many links courses you’ll have very tight lies and the ball runs for miles. So 6700 yards plays more like 6200. This course would be a gem if they kept the fairways in somewhat better conditions and if the greens were slightly better. Greens ran about a 9-10. If they were 11-12 and smoother, I would have given it a 4 star. But for the price and my first time playing it, it wasn’t all that bad. So 3 star is fair I would say.
Challenging for beginners
It was a fun course because it was a different style from what we get used to. Definitely not the prettiest or easiest course I have played. It’s great for the golfer that needs a challenge.
Conditions could be better
Overall a fun day on the course. First time playing with ne w clubs. Tee box and fairway conditions were OK. The greens, however, need a good deal of work. Most were infected with weeds. All were as hard as concrete, like putting on a pool table. The owners are working hard on improving course conditions and I look forward to another round soon.
links course
The course is challenging because the conditions can be difficult but the layout is good and the greens are in good shape. Overall, it's a golf course that I will play again. I don't like playing the same course all the time like so many people do.
No green grass except the greens but the grass will grow back. The dead grass was good enough to hit your ball off of. The greens are very fast. The staff was very friendly. Not many bathrooms on the course but there is plenty of bushes for the men.
Fun day, no wait
Although the course condition was not perfect, it was still enjoyable. There were some bare spots in the fairways, but the greens were in decent shape. Pace of play was great. I think we finished in 3 hours. Thats the way golf should be!
Ugh This Course Needs Help
Michael in the Pro Shop very helpful and a great ambassador. Course needs a lot of work. I played this course when it was new. So excited to have a links style tract. Just a total bummer.
Will be back!!
I was skeptical because of some of the reviews but I was pleasantly surprised! The staff was incredible the greens were super fast and true! Truly a links course and rewards for quality shots and hurts with the not so great shots... We play at least once a week and now this will be in the mix!
Disappointed beyond belief
Used to love this course and the links concept but will not return. Call course day before and reserved tee time. Drove from Orange County, arrived for a 7 am tee off and was told that that half the holes were punched and not available for play but could play frontside twice. No reduction in fees - after 45 min drive, still wanted to play so played front nine. Got to 1 again for 2nd nine and there were three groups already on the tee. Complained at clubhouse and left.
Could be a really nice course
The contours of the greens are really nice but so bumpy and uneven. Also the layout is nice but the fairways are ragged. Nice bones but needs a lot more maintenance.
Love The Links!
I really like this course and the layout. It was not in summer condition, which led to more inconsistencies in the fairways than usual but the greens were decent and it’s always enjoyable. The staff is fantastic.
