The Links at Summerly
About
The Links at Summerly borders Lake Elsinore, southern California's largest natural lake. The Ortega Mountains and the Cleveland Natural Forest are also the golf course's neighbors. Although it feels nicely secluded, the Links are conveniently just minutes from Temecula. The design tumbles across a rolling terrain that is accented with 3 miles of Scottish-style burns. The natural mounding was deftly incorporated throughout the golf course. The rugged landscape, reminiscent of courses in the British Isles, gives it the look and feel of a traditional links layout. It is a formidable test that features heavily undulated fairways and an abundance of kidney-shaped bunkers. Although there are some tricky holes, each one was designed to offer several different playing strategies. Thought and imagination are required, but you will also have to use every club in your back to navigate the twists and turns of the Links at Summerly.

Great value
Good bang for the buck. Links style course that is fun to play. Different shot selection than most parkland courses. Course knowledge from local playing partners was very helpful. Condition of the course was not an issue and was told that they are only getting better. Will play again
Pleasantly surprised
Haven't played here in about a year due to poor condition. However it is clear that ownership has invested a lot of time and money into bringing this course back..still by no means perfect, but much improved over the past few years. Greens were shabby...recently punched and very soft..players please repair your divots wherever you play...will be back
Nice course for the price!
Greens punched 2 days prior but still rolled well. Love the layout and great deal when you use “Hot Deals” It was 110 degrees which made it a little challenging, but still enjoyed the round!
lot's of challenges
Ditches running across the fairway made it very challenging selecting clubs. Thinking man's course.
Close to being right
This is a great value course in the IE that is making great strides to being playable again. The fairways have come back in great shape. They are very thick and lush. There still are some bare spots but much better than my visit last year. The traps are still not quite there yet with little sand. The greens are very unique with two types of grass on them. There is a grass that's very coarse and slow on the outside perimeter of each green- maybe the first 4-8 feet of each green. In the middle of each green there is a much faster but weaker grass that tears up very easily with shots coming onto the green. The layout is amazing and I'm happy to see the management trying to bring this great layout back to it's original greatness. I highly recommend buying a yardage guide for first time players as their burns (narrow hazards) will catch your ball if unfamiliar with the course. If you keep your expectations low to medium, its a great course but I'm excited to see what the future will bring.
Needs work
The greens are very patchy fairways are way over saturated. There was not a Marshall when we teed off so we had people teeing off on our tee time. A lot of dead rabbits are pins the greens.
Playable course, rough around the edges.
This course can be so much better and it seems like the management group are taking the steps to get it there. Lots of replacement sod on the greens as well as two distinct grasses on most greens. Frustrating to putt through. Overall, the course is one I'd play if I'm in the area again. The beverage cart was gone halfway through our round and it was 104 outside, so that was dangerous considering there is no water on the course. The inside staff was very nice and provided us with plenty of beverages and food.
First time on course, great value for money
Course was in great condition and layout was fun. First time in links course and was challenging. Need to stay straight and lay up to avoid trouble. Will play here again often...
In good shape
the tee boxes are the best around...nice greens and the fairways are good
Great course
the course has the best tee boxes in the area. The greens were nice but other golfers need to fix their ball marks. The fairways are good and I like the layout, its not the run of the mill course.
Condition Improving
You can tell they are putting a lot of work into this course. Some of the nicest tee boxes around! Just need the public to take notice and respect the efforts. Not a lot of people fixing divots AND driving close to the greens :( Challenging yet forgiving layout.
Course is getting in better condition - great value
This is the only true links style course in So Cal. The greens were in good shape and rolled true. Grass around the green was in great shape. Quite a few patchy spots in the fairway, but it is in better shape than it was could years ago. Will play again.
