Mount Dora Golf Club
About
Mount Dora Golf Club is a historic, member-owned golf club open to the public, located about 35 miles northwest of downtown Orlando. The course began to form in 1945, shortly after World War II when returning G.I.'s petitioned the city for land to build a golf course.
A second nine was added in 1959 and the clubhouse was build in the 1960s. Set on just 85 acres, the course bills itself as "The longest 5,700 yards in Florida" thanks to an abundance of water and up and downhill lies that will demand precision over power.

Under repair for the greens
The course conditions were not that good, particularly since the greens had been sanded, but not raked in. in.
Old school
Fun course, pin placements were a little ridiculous on the edges on extreme angles the greens are mounded to roll off anyway so putting the placement on the edges is crazy. Maybe they had a tournament that day that's why they did it.
Friendly staff, aged infrstructure, enjoyable golf!
Great course layout, length, and challenging greens!
Lucky Day, Weatherwise.
Most fortunate that although starting off in a light rain, it had abated by the third hole and turned into quite a nice day. Course conditions were good overall. Enjoyable day on the whole.
Not worth playing - stay away at any price!
This place was awful - dirt tee boxes, very poor fairways and rough, terrible greens and below average bunkers. I will never be back!
First time but not the last time
Great course. First time playing. Great layout, great small greens. lots of elevation changes. A must play course. Will be back soon.
Always start with the good -Friendly staff.
Now the rest - I get the course is not long and the greens are its defense, but pin placement was totally ridiculous. When 2 single digit handicappers can't 2 put, it is really out of hand. If I wanted to play Shinnecock in 2018 or Olympic Club in 1998 I would have tried to qualify for these US Opens. I can only imagine how frustrated +18 golfers felt spending hard earned money here.
Great Value
Course is in nice shape and has a fun layout. The land definately used every piece of property meaning no wasted space. All of the comments about the rough are true but that’s how that grass is so I would recommend have everyone watch everyone shots and try to pin point exactly where it went into the rough or you will lose your ball. Best way to play rough like this is to agree before you start that argument f ball is hit well but finds the rough and you can not find it then a free drop in the rough is allowed with no penalty. Not for balls that could be OB just shots where all agree the ball should be there
Better throw Darts
Overall the course is in good shape post hurricane 🌀 Milton. Listen the course is not overly long but i guarantee you will have an opportunity to use every club in your bag. The staff is great. Chris behind the bar is a good one to talk to before your round with very good tips. The greens are in pretty good shape but depending on how diabolical the greens keeper is you better throw darts in order to hold the green. A very good day on the hidden gem of a course.
Better course Mgmt. needed
After losing 2 balls just off the fairways, several of the holes on the front had extremely poor pin placements too close to edge of greens. The greens themselves were in good condition. Fairways were just fair condition.
Great course for price
All the holes were challenging the greens were great very fast though
Had a good time
What a shame that single digit handicappers can't adapt to a great little course and give it a review like this. Great little course w challenging greens. A must play if you're in the area.
