Mount Dora Golf Club
About
Mount Dora Golf Club is a historic, member-owned golf club open to the public, located about 35 miles northwest of downtown Orlando. The course began to form in 1945, shortly after World War II when returning G.I.'s petitioned the city for land to build a golf course.
A second nine was added in 1959 and the clubhouse was build in the 1960s. Set on just 85 acres, the course bills itself as "The longest 5,700 yards in Florida" thanks to an abundance of water and up and downhill lies that will demand precision over power.

An old course with history
This was an old golf course with lots of history. We enjoyed playing it but there has not been any upgrades to the course in many years. The clubhouse is very old as well and again nothing has been down to it in years.
Poor condition
This was my first time playing this course. Staff was very nice but course is in poor condition. Greens are in rough shape. Needs lots of work. Carts are ancient and very slow.
Great value!
Course in good condition greens are a bit slow but great value for money. Pace of play very slow, one group holding everyone up.
Long grass outside fairways are ball eaters!
I don't know if the course management decided to leave rough grass as tall as they to introduce some kind of challenge to compensate for short 70 par course, but it only frustrates you if your ball jumps just even one yard to the left or right of the fairway, you will NOT find it unless you are standing right on the ball looking down on it! Even the approaches, front of bunkers, even the ring around the greens are so tall grass, just good luck finding it. What this does is that the pace of play goes out the window and waiting game starts at each hole while waiting guys in front of you looking for their balls (at least one guy loses a ball in the rough at every hole and the whole foursome looks for that ball) or you are looking for your ball and people behind you are waiting on you. I lost about 6 balls during the game, but I found like 8 balls while looking for my own! I am not there to hunt for balls! Anyway, unless I read a review here that starts saying tall grass no more, I will NOT go back to Mount Dora Golf Club anytime soon.
Worth playing
My husband & I enjoyed it
Course was in good shape
Fun day of golf
😊⛳️
Great value
The course is well laid out for beginners and intermediate golfers. Wide open!!
Second Time, fantastic summer course!
Fairways and greens were incredible for Mid-July!! Very challenging! A must play for anyone, beginner to pro!
The man running the Pro shop was incredibly kind and attentive, would highly recommend for family outings!
Greens need work
Front 9 greens really need help. Not sure if it is chemicals, heat or lack of water but they were in bad shape. I always enjoy this hidden gem of a course and I'll be back to play it again.
Too close for comfort
Each fairway runs side by side- didn't know what was what
Course
Great play today, course playing really good, just a couple of greens but several Raina days has brought some life in it.
Nice little course
Nice simple course. Not too challenging but had some nice elevation changes. The layout was such that it was pretty easy to hit into other fairways but also didn't lose many balls. Fairways and tee boxes were in good shape, greens were below average with a couple being almost unplayable. The greens that were in good shape were inconsistent too. However for the price I had a great time. Will be back again.
