Mount Dora Golf Club
About
Mount Dora Golf Club is a historic, member-owned golf club open to the public, located about 35 miles northwest of downtown Orlando. The course began to form in 1945, shortly after World War II when returning G.I.'s petitioned the city for land to build a golf course.
A second nine was added in 1959 and the clubhouse was build in the 1960s. Set on just 85 acres, the course bills itself as "The longest 5,700 yards in Florida" thanks to an abundance of water and up and downhill lies that will demand precision over power.

Bob
Nice course, a lot of tree damage. Course has a nice varied layout.
Mount Dora golf club
I understand why trees had had fallen due to Hurricane a week and a half ago alling and not picked . The grass not being mowed in the fairways or anywhere else made finding balls virtually impossible not a great day of golf looking for balls. I lost two boxes of ball due to the long grass in the fairway and debris in the rough. Expensive day of golf at $45 a person the 2 boxes of balls. I don't usually comment on these things but that was ridiculous.
Signed, Unhappy golfers.
Old,tired, confusing course that had so much debris everywhere
Needs updating, cleaning and better maintenance. Debris everywhere, grass too long, very confusing course layout. Fairways narrow and dangerous at times with potentially getting hit by balls. Golf cart was old and dirty. Bathroom needs major cleaning.
A lot of tree damage from Milton
They have a lot of clean up work to do. They have done a good job getting all the trees in piles. This has been at the expense of the cutting the rough. Lost 3 balls because the balls were hidden in the grass and could not find them.
The staff was very helpful.
Waste of time
Granted the storm blew thru. I understand the severity of the downed trees. Why open a course that you spend the majority of your time searching for your golfball because the rough is to deep.Complete waste of 4 hrs. I won’t return.
it got hit
the course was hit hard and it needs to be cleaned up The greens are slow and bumpy number 15 green is a disaster all in all it was kind of playable s
Fun corse
Because of the hurricane the course was wet. The fairways were mowed well but the roughs were not. The course clearly rewarded the shots that were straight. The tees and greens were in good shape.
Welcome to the jungle
Unless you want to look for your ball every hole for about 15 minutes I highly recommend playing somewhere else. Never thought I’d be so disappointed in Dora. You really do feel like Dora the Explorer playing there.
Great staff, better course
Course is a little tight on some of the holes with narrow fairways, but that’s just a challenge. No houses at all on the course and it’s got some challenging hills and small greens. Bright green grass and no sandy spots or dead grass anywhere. Will definitely be back!
Mount Dora Continues to Fall Off
First time I played Mount Dora, more towards the beginning of the year, I actually really liked it. Course has an exciting handful of downhill/uphill holes, but then the remainder are mainly dead-straight par 3/4s that are the missionary position of golf.
The WORST part is the course conditions. The grass of the rough is SO tall that unless you hit a fairway every single shot, you will be searching aimlessly for your ball because it is completely submerged in grass. Every. Shot. I shot zero OB shots, I lost 5 balls, because it was useless to look in some areas the grass was so tall.
Take your money and go somewhere where they care about the course.
MDGC
Always nice to play course, greens were worst ive seen, maybe too much rain, other then that always a great course to play if rates are good, not a 45.00 course.
Tough Rough
Great day but to be honest miss the fairway and you can spend some time trying to locate your ball. The rough was penal. The purist would say “well don’t miss the fairway”. The realist would say most golfers expect to find their ball just off the fairway. Be aware
The rough is tough.
It's not a long course, but it is narrow, with small greens and thick rough. Pace of play was decent and Chris took good care of us at the bar afterwards.
We'll be back!
