Mount Dora Golf Club
About
Mount Dora Golf Club is a historic, member-owned golf club open to the public, located about 35 miles northwest of downtown Orlando. The course began to form in 1945, shortly after World War II when returning G.I.'s petitioned the city for land to build a golf course.
A second nine was added in 1959 and the clubhouse was build in the 1960s. Set on just 85 acres, the course bills itself as "The longest 5,700 yards in Florida" thanks to an abundance of water and up and downhill lies that will demand precision over power.

Golf
Staff always friendly!!! Played front 9 well.Back nine was behind a single player.Infront of him was a foursome. What ever happened to allow people to play thru? Waited fifteen minutes every hole. The twosome went back and played the same hole twice. They caught up to us waiting again.
Great staff
Friendly staff. Small greens interesting layout. Elevation changes on some holes.
cut grass near fairways and greens
Interesting course. Lots of elevation changes. Great scenery. Thick grass next to greens and fairways needs to be cut. Too much time spent on hunting for balls very much in play. Average golfers are not looking to play US Open conditions.
So slow
Play here whenever I am in town..Slowest I have ever seen. I quit after 15..Couldn't take it any more.
Sad!!
I’ve played this course ALOT! I know the weather has not been perfect but I’ve never played a course in such terrible shape! The tees are bad- the greens are horrid - the fairways have gotten so bad that you can’t find your ball - unless you trip over it!!!
I love MDGC - I appreciate the Vets who make this course work BUT!!! There needs to be a big improvement before I want to play there again!!!
Nice short course
Friendly staff and fairway and greens were on fair shape. I would definitely give it a try.
Enjoyed the Course
Greens are small, so challenging to hit. Some cool elevation changes. Good value for the money. Will definitely go back.
Ok for a quick round
Played on a Friday afternoon with few people on the course. Only took 3 hours 15 to complete. Greens were in good, but very slow. They’re still cleaning up after hurricane. Only negative was they turned on the sprinkler on 18 with people still on the course.
Improved!
Third time playing this course this year. Each time it gets better. For the money it's hard to beat and the staff is great. Kind of a throw back clubhouse. Tee boxes and greens were in great shape. Fairways good too. There's still some downed trees from the storm but nothing that affects play. The rough is that soft, fluffy long grass that can make it easy to loose a ball, Other than that the course is fairly simple and forgiving.
Golfer Etiquette??
4-some in front of our 2-some made no effort to pass us through even though we waited on every hole. At least two holes clear in front of them.
Great course
Only a few weeks post 2 hurricanes and course is mostly cleaned up and in great condition!
Staff is doing a phenomenal job!
Fairways
We know the Hurricane Milton did alot of damage to a bunch of trees along the courses, but it did appear that the club did a good job to try and get most out of the way of play, however the ruff was way to deep. It took to long to look for balls that landed in the ruff and at times could not find them at all. Please work on trimming the ruff down just a bit so that we don't spend more time looking for our balls then we do playing. Other than that the course looked nice and was enjoyable to play.
