Mount Dora Golf Club
About
Mount Dora Golf Club is a historic, member-owned golf club open to the public, located about 35 miles northwest of downtown Orlando. The course began to form in 1945, shortly after World War II when returning G.I.'s petitioned the city for land to build a golf course.
A second nine was added in 1959 and the clubhouse was build in the 1960s. Set on just 85 acres, the course bills itself as "The longest 5,700 yards in Florida" thanks to an abundance of water and up and downhill lies that will demand precision over power.

Decent course
The course is fairly simple and straight with some nice elevation changes for a florida course. Half the greens were slightly determined making putting a challenge. Fairways are fairly straight and the greens are where youll find the variation. While the greens in good shape performed beautifully. The fairways are laid out in a switch back fashion and are close together making a slice or hook enter adjacent fairway. Overall I would play again. But they don't have a driving range which makes warm up a challenge.
Greens
Couple greens in bad shape, most of them are good, grear layout and challenging at the same time, links feel to the course
Awful- Worst round Ever
I am not one to write reviews, but this has to be said about this course. It is absolutely infested with mosquitos. I have never seen anything like it. I've been playing golf or 30 years and this was unprecedented. I could not stand on top of the ball for a pre-shot routine. Hundreds of mosquitos would swarm all over me before every single shot. They were every where, the t-boxes, the fairways, the greens, the rough with pine needles were the worst. They should be closed, this is a health hazard. We only played 9 holes and left. Repellant didn't help, I have my legs, arms, neck and face all full of bitten marks. I can almost forgive the bad shape of most of the greens and the long waits between shots due to the backed up players ahead, but being eaten alive by mosquitos and paying the same price as other premium courses in the area is beyond unacceptable.
I'll never go back.
Bug central
Anything a inch off the fairway was literally thousands of mosquitos all around your legs and feet couldn’t even hit a shot out of the rough without being swarmed and a couple of the greens were some of the worse ive personally ever played on
Greens
Greens were really fast, fairways little dry, love the course and value!! Always a great challenge course.
Dried out
This course was very dried out, greens were like carpet. Greens very bumpy!! Love the course but needs to be watering.
Back in shape
Best condition in a long time. Fairways a little high but all the greens good and whole course great shape
Good value
Course was not in super great condition. Lack of rain and greens running quite slow created less then ideal conditions.
Staff/19th hole were great!
Enjoyable course
pleasantly surprised with the conditions…..greens, though on the slow side, were in very good shape—there were not any dead spots/weeds to be found….old-style course…..crownded, small greens but plenty of fluffy grass around the greens to chip from
Straight away greens.
Other than the fairways could use a good watering the course was in pretty good shape. I like the layout of this course. All you have to do is hit it straight. Will definitely recommend this course to my friends.y
Great
Impressed with the fact that they are really trying to improve this course. The greens and Fairways were a nice shape and it showed that they were doing all they could to improve it.
