Mount Dora Golf Club
About
Mount Dora Golf Club is a historic, member-owned golf club open to the public, located about 35 miles northwest of downtown Orlando. The course began to form in 1945, shortly after World War II when returning G.I.'s petitioned the city for land to build a golf course.
A second nine was added in 1959 and the clubhouse was build in the 1960s. Set on just 85 acres, the course bills itself as "The longest 5,700 yards in Florida" thanks to an abundance of water and up and downhill lies that will demand precision over power.

Fun Short Track
Great value for your money. The staff was friendly and the layout was fairly easy. Some of the greens were not up to standard but a fun 5700 yds reguardless.
A beautiful day out , not too be missed
I have just got back from the UK where golf is a serious business, so thanks to Mount Dora for reminding me that it’s really about having a great day out and having fun with your friends!! Don’t get me wrong Mount Dora as a test of your golfing ability is as good as it gets, small greens , tree lined. up and down terrain . The course is in excellent shape the best I have ever seen it add to this the wonderful friendly staff that make your day an amazing experience not to be missed. Where ever you’re from you won’t be disappointed in the way you are welcomed here I am a scratch golfer and have been for many years have played with some of the best players in the world. and the most important thing I have learned is it’s supposed to be FUN so if you’re looking for a fun day out and a good test of golf give this place a try. Don’t forget after your round the bar here is terrific you’ll feel like family. Finally just to say I don’t work for this golf club I just love playing here I live in the UK and just wish our golf clubs were as much FUN. ,!!! Hit it straight. Roger 😀
Very nice
Nice course, fairly challenging. In nice shape and nice carts. Busy, so a bit slow in season.
Wow!
Played this course a number of times last winter and fell in love with it and the people who work and play there. The course began a fairway restoration project last April, and the results are amazing... looks like a different course. Thje GM and Superentendent are to be congratulated on thier efforts, the hard work has clearly paid off. In addition to much improved fairways, the rough has been thickened, especially the greenside rough. Green were all in great shape and as always, the staff are super friendly and eager tro help. If you want high end resort golf, look elsewhere, if you want down to earth attitude and quality golf on a municipal course budget, I highjly recommend Mount Dora Golf Club!
Old Course. Nice variety of holes. Could use a litte upgrade, but we enjoyed playing the course. For a Florida course, it had some hills. Mature trees on the whole course.
Much improved
MDGC is a good standard on my list of courses to play. It has improved quite alot over the past 4 years. The new forward tees are really appreciated by me and my friends. The course is in pretty good shape . However, the rough is ridiculously hard!!! My partner lost 2 balls in the rough in one round!
Cut the greens
Course was in good shape with the exception of the greens no consistency some were cut others weren’t made it difficult to putt.
Looking a lot better
Somebody has put a lot of love into the course. It has come along way. I love playing this course,It is a fun track. The staff are super nice..
Mount dora public course
Course has steadily y improved over past month. Greens were poor earlier in the year, recent rains were positive for their development.
Why Can't
We have played this course for I can't tell you how many years on Wednesday mornings with a Tee time on or close to 7am. Now since there are 3 of us (which we have before) we got pushed to 8:20am because I think of the Scramble.
The last two times we play from that time it took us 4+ hours to complete play. We are discussed with the changes made and will most likely limit the play at Mt. Dora. That truly saddens me.
