Mount Dora Golf Club
About
Mount Dora Golf Club is a historic, member-owned golf club open to the public, located about 35 miles northwest of downtown Orlando. The course began to form in 1945, shortly after World War II when returning G.I.'s petitioned the city for land to build a golf course.
A second nine was added in 1959 and the clubhouse was build in the 1960s. Set on just 85 acres, the course bills itself as "The longest 5,700 yards in Florida" thanks to an abundance of water and up and downhill lies that will demand precision over power.

First time here, nice course
I was overall very happy with the course. Greens were in good shape and the fairways were very good. The rough can be a challenge at some points!
Vintage Florida golf
Course check in was very friendly. Staff is doing really good. Value and amenities in the pro shop for drinks. Equipment were fine. Course was built in 1945. I have wanted to play this course for decades. Condition the chorus was good with the greens winter rye working well. Where the course was average Fairway condition. No complaints. It is winter. Horse has mature oak. Trees on most fairways layout was not too difficult But is similar to many older courses that are over 50 years old that have small greens and limited imagination and some steep slopes. That was unusual for Florida. I don’t plan on playing there again. The golf wasn’t very fun. Payson play was good as we teed off at 12:45 PM and one of the last groups today and most the last groups are all Tucson. Some play was good. Per 72, 5900 yards. Not recommending unless you’re playing in a four team scramble. Then it would actually be entertaining and a good place to have a cold drink on a nice day. Weather was great.
Great time!
Perfect day with a real nice pace of play. Course was in great shape and I shot under 90 for the first time!
Great value
My third time playing here. The course is in great shape. The layout has some challenging holes. Overall a great value!
Lovely Course
As a novice golf player - this was a fun course - might have been a bit confusing if we hadn’t been with seasoned players! The course it self is in a beautiful setting! The carts have new seats and were super comfy! Staff was very helpful and while we didn’t take advantage of any other amenities- it seemed like a fun place to
do so - relaxing and unpretentious!
Will suggest this to other friends and def come back when we are in the area!
Old, overpriced, and out-dated
From my understanding this golf course was designed and established in the 1940s to support our veterans in the area. The course reflects a very old and short municipal layout of back and forth holes where there is very little separation between Fairways and often times people are playing their t-shots from three Fairways over. It's very slow, and the entire personnel and system appears to be antiquated. It seems that the people want to keep things the way they were from the 1940s. There is no driving range. There are zero amenities of any kind including a restaurant to possibly have a lunch following you around. There is a screen room off of the back that is filled with smoke and regular drinkers. You might be able to order a premade hot dog wrapped in foil from whenever. For the price, explore other options in the area.
Slooooooooowwww
Finished the front 9 in 2 hours which is reasonable but in this case it wasn’t. Get to the 10th tee and there was 4 groups on the tee box and 2 on the hole so six on the hole. Played 10-11 in about an hour and get to 12 and the tee box is 4 deep again. The group in front of us quit and played the 18th hole and we followed them. 5 hour round brewing maybe more
Nice course
I thought it was a really good course. Greens were more like I am used to in Ohio. Fairways are in really good condition. A lot more elevation change than you would expect in Florida, I was pleasantly surprised. I recommend you give this course a try.
Lovely little gem
Rex made us very welcome at the checkin.
Really helpful & Chris in the bar was sound.
