Mount Dora Golf Club
About
Mount Dora Golf Club is a historic, member-owned golf club open to the public, located about 35 miles northwest of downtown Orlando. The course began to form in 1945, shortly after World War II when returning G.I.'s petitioned the city for land to build a golf course.
A second nine was added in 1959 and the clubhouse was build in the 1960s. Set on just 85 acres, the course bills itself as "The longest 5,700 yards in Florida" thanks to an abundance of water and up and downhill lies that will demand precision over power.

Great Course
We enjoyed this course the first time we went 2 years ago, and we enjoyed it this year as well. Very nice employees, and the course is very well taken care of
Firsatr time---NICE Course
We enjoyed playing Mount Dora. It is an older course with a "Municipal" feel to it. Conditions were good with tee boxes and greens in very good condition, while the greens were perfect.
Staff was very friendly and helpful.
The course is short, but very challenging. The greens are overly deceptive leading to a few extra puts.
We will go back. Great value (Price) compared to many of the other area courses at this time of year.
Friendly starters
Lady starters were very friendly and energetic. Recommend a ranger ensure pace of play.
A Gem of a Course
I played two golf courses like this when I was a teenager. They followed the lay of the land without a lot of earth moved and they had a natural feel rather than that of a design imposed on the property. Conditions were modest. Unfortunately, the courses I remember no longer exist, so it was a pleasure to play this course. Mt. Dora has a variety of good holes with significant elevation changes. Greens are small, consistent with an older course. It is a different style than typical FL courses and worth playing, if you love the game.
I usually enjoy playing this course but today, the group in front was so slow and so annoying that we actually did not finish the course.
I have never seen 3 men play so slowly. Did not hit their drives until the group ahead of them was at the green - and their drives were maybe 150 yards - at best!!!
I’m hoping this will not happen again. Sometimes they need to send out a Ranger.
Still I’ll go back because the staff is wonderful!
OK golf course
I would say this course is like a MUNI course that you would find in many areas of the country. The fairways are a little light on fluffy grass but OK for the average golfer. The greens are in fairly good shape. The one thing about the course is that many of the greens are crowned. In some cases if you don't hit the green in the right spot your ball will roll off the green, somethings at least 10 - 20 yard. This may frustrate some golfers but everyone is playing on the same course Price is good and I would play it again if I am in town.
Guests beware!
Firstly, staff was great and apologetic. Course conditions fair and layout quite nice. Greens are elevated and small, therefore challenging, in good condition, newly sanded and “hairy” and very slow.
Pace of play is absolutely awful - the course obviously has many senior members that feel they “own”’the course and there was no attempt to let people play through - we ended up skipping 3 holes (14,15 and18) as we had waited very long on each hole on the back nine. Pace for first 9 was 2 hours but 2.00 for the second 6 we played. I was in a twosome, 2 foursomes ahead of me playing scramble golf, all senior citizens playing extremely slow and no ranger on the course.
Awesome
What a great hidden golf course! First time I’ve played, and I cannot wait to go back. Course was in great shape. Staff was amazing. Even the other golfers were nice! Lol.
Decent
Decent golf course
Hilly
Hard to find signage and Entrance
Trouble on the greens
First - I love this course - it’s a decent track with some wonderful holes. BUT most of the greens have become unplayable. They are so crowned up that no one’s ball will stay on the green for putting. So, unless you can chip in from the fairway- the ball is not going in the hole! We finally have started “ just add two strokes after you get on or to the green” instead of putting. I’ve played this course for years and it’s gotten worse!
Hidden Gem
Staff is always great and the course continues to get in better condition. If you want a non traditional FL course with some elevation and some challenges this is your spot! Great value!
