Teal Bend Golf Club
About
Teal Bend Golf Club runs alongside the Sacramento River, enjoying a lush landscape covered in natural wetlands. One of the characteristics the course is known for is its stunning scenery, which works against the challenging layout by being almost too distracting. All of your attention will have to be focused on successfully maneuvering past the mature trees and natural rough areas that sit along the edges of the undulating greens and narrow, winding fairways. Long hitters will enjoy this golf course, which stretches to 7,000 yards from the back tees. There are also some interesting risk/reward holes that will appeal to both low and high handicappers, which is why it is one of Sacramento's most popular public courses. The well maintained driving range is also a popular feature at Teal Bend Golf Club.

Meh..
Typical Teal Bend I suppose. This course has horrible drainage, well over 100° past week or so, yet mudballs, plugged lies, & massive pitch marks on the greens a plenty. I’m a longer hitter, wish they would put forth a little bit more effort on the tee set up. No black teas brings trouble to play on every single hole… Literally could not hit driver on this course.
Pace of play
Round took well over 5hrs. Some type of tournament, but the marshal (nice guy btw), needed to push the groups to play at pace. A bunch of drunk guys ended up ruining my groups round, not to mention we had to wait in the heat. Normally have a solid time at this course. Will def ask if they have a tournament before I book next time.
Good Shape
The course is in good shape. The greens are rolling nice.
Tee to Green Needs More Care
The greens were in decent shape--ran smooth and with fewer ball marks than the last time I played there last year. Due to so much tournament play at this course (as opposed to daily fee paying golfers), historically the greens tend to have a lot of unrepaired ball marks. So there was some improvement this time. However, from tees up to the greens, the course has seen better times (and it's only early June). Not sure if the water wells are low, but noticed a lot of dry, brown bare spots and unequal cut fairways and rough. Still, its a wonderful layout with each hole by itself surrounded by trees. Greens have a lot of slope and not easy--challenging.
Slow in the afternoon
Good looking track. Some tee boxes are long and tricky and need some shot shaping. Fairways are spotty at some holes. Sometimes you have to hit dry mud under grass. Greens roll true. Nice and fast. Still a good 4.5 hr round even with slow 3some and 2some in front of us. Finished a 1430 tee time at 1900.
Always a good experience
Teal Bend is a pretty good course--medium difficulty, decent condition. What makes it special is the layout: There is hardly any place on the course where you can see another hole from the one you are playing. No errant balls landing near you. No houses along the fairway. Just a pristine golf experience.
Be careful…
Made the mistake of leaving a 7i on either 17 or 18. Notified course when I got home and noticed… Unfortunately we are 3 days later and still no club. I know it’s my fault but please understand you’re playing a course with people who will steal your random irons. Wasn’t even a wedge. I’d prefer to play courses with people who still believe in golf etiquette… They apply the same level of etiquette to pace of play and repairing ball divots on greens at this course as well….
Obnoxious Marshall
We were harassed by a course marshal who wanted us to speed up, although for 18 holes we didn’t see anyone behind us. We were somewhat slow because they paired us with a couple of women who were more interested in their social life than their golf game.
