Wildhawk Golf Club
About
WildHawk Golf Club is a challenging championship layout that is one of Sacramento's most popular public courses. The verdant landscape is dotted with scenic water features, including a cascading waterfall. Water is naturally a prominent presence but the unique shape and positioning of the bunkers also makes the course stand out from other public tracks. The golf course boasts some of the area's best greens as well. The layout has a diverse mix of challenging holes and player friendly elements such as the wide-open fairways on the longer par 4s and par 5s, which makes the golf course accommodating for a range of skill levels. It still requires a fair amount of accuracy though since it can get tight in some spots. WildHawk Golf Club can also be more difficult depending on the wind

Beautiful !! Photo submitted by LonneyJay14 on 12/05/2013
Muddy
I have played this course before but this is the worst shape that I have seen it. It has been three weeks since it has rained but the course was still wet and muddy in many spots and it was cart path only on many holes. When the conditions are good, this is an excellent course to play.
I like this course but the pace of play today was 5+ hours
I like this course but the pace of play today was 5+ hours. Have golfed here quite a few times but don’t remember it being this slow. Course was a little bit wet but otherwise in decent shape. Course is relatively easy but still has some interesting holes. Staff is always extremely friendly and the starter is very helpful. Recommend this course but occasionally the pace of play is an issue.
Winter Conditions
The course is challenging and Beautifully layed out. Greens have plenty enough break and slope. It was a Winter round so cart path only! It would have been better to walk or trolley cart. Difficulty finding anything off the fairway as the rough was deep right off the fairway. Still a lot of leaves on the course, making it another challenge finding balls off fairway. Overall, I can't wait to play here again in warmer weather. I played with a couple regulars and they helped navigate/caddy.
Still too muddy
There is still quite a bit of standing water and very muddy areas from the heavy winter rains. Give it a few more weeks to dry out. Greens are good and surprisingly fast.
Good beginners course
Play this course often. Not long, has water, sand traps and some forced Carrie’s if you don’t hit it in the right spots. Had a lot of wet areas this day which I haven’t seen before. This is a nice course for everyone.
Golf round summary
The course design was well thoughtout. The rains left the course in a wet condition and they should get a pass. Tee boxes were sloppy in lacking. However the greens were in exceptional condition for this time of year and with the rain drain well with the ball rolling true on all 18 greens.
The course has new golf carts that remained on the paths given the rain.
The range was nothing special n the putting green was very small and left something to be desired.
The pro shop was nicely presented with a pro behind a closed door. The cafe / bar area was quaint with new TV and a nice bar for a post round beverage
The downside, the staff in the shop, marshall were very curt and unpleasant which detracted from a nice afternoon.
Overall summary, pay online and go to the first tee n go. Anything else your on your own!
Too soggy
I truly enjoy Wildhawk but it was borderline — or past that — unplayable on Sunday. It was a bog.
Drainage
This course always is very poor condition after rain because of the poor drainage. Flooding in the low areas and around the cart paths produces unplayable areas.
Decent.
Took 6 hours to finish. Lol either then that it was alright. They had a drainage problem. But the course has potential to be very nice if they take good care of it.
Challenging Greens
This likely speaks more to my skill and golf course difficulty ratings in general, but I never plan on posting a helpful differential when I play Whitney Oaks. I typically have 2-3 three putts in a round, but I had 10 three putts in this round, thus no chance to post anything in the mid 80's due to the combination of difficult undulations and speed.. By all means, this is a beautiful, well kept course with a layout that I like, but I find the greens quite difficult and wonder why the Rating and Slope aren't higher.
First Time at Hawks Landing
First time playing this course and it will not be the last. Fun and enjoyable course to play. I will be back.
