Wildhawk Golf Club
About
WildHawk Golf Club is a challenging championship layout that is one of Sacramento's most popular public courses. The verdant landscape is dotted with scenic water features, including a cascading waterfall. Water is naturally a prominent presence but the unique shape and positioning of the bunkers also makes the course stand out from other public tracks. The golf course boasts some of the area's best greens as well. The layout has a diverse mix of challenging holes and player friendly elements such as the wide-open fairways on the longer par 4s and par 5s, which makes the golf course accommodating for a range of skill levels. It still requires a fair amount of accuracy though since it can get tight in some spots. WildHawk Golf Club can also be more difficult depending on the wind

Beautiful !! Photo submitted by LonneyJay14 on 12/05/2013
Love Wildhawk!
Wildhawk has great greens. Even with the winter weather, the greens were consistent from hole to hole and better than other area courses.
Decent Course
Decent course, over priced unless you catch a deal on GN. Tee boxes were nowhere near level and in pretty terrible condition. This does not represent the rest of the course, which was in very good shape. Difficult enough to be fun. Hole 16 is a great hole to make bets on, as it’s a 270 yard par 4 over water. Overall a great afternoon of golf.
Gem of course but painfully slow!
Nice layout and good condition. Took 5 hours to play 14 holes.
Great Easy Course
Great course. Nice layout. Staff was very nice and friendly. Range balls were provided with tee time. All around great experience. The only complaint I have is the amount and quality of sand in the hazards. Some were nice and some had no sand or a tone off rocks. Other than that I definitely recommend this course.
Good for now but...
Great staff from pro shop to cart keeper to bar maid. Nice opportunities for clubs, beginner's and event tournaments. Dual options for driving/ sand/ putting practice. Mostly smooth cart paths. Two toilet options on course and periodic water spouts. A nice creek runs through the course resulting in several hazards. Sand traps are @ average; some fluffy but some in need of attention. The greens are nice and somewhat predictable so you can score here. Fairways are still good but.... low lying areas haven't been improved and I can see the usual sloppy conditions coming with the impending rain. This course is excellent late April to November but below average in the winter with a lot of cart path restrictions...that means slow frustrating golf. But, for now it's worth it since the people are so cool and easy to deal with. Golf Now "Hot Deals" will soon be the rule.
Greens were terrific!
Course was in great condition, especially the greens...lush and smooth!
Trapped
Every trap observed had sand, a new and welcome sight. Interesting course with fair and suitable tees for senior or higher handicapped players
It's Golf, Always fun Always Frustrating
The course in good, this time of year there is no bad days. The only problem with WildHawk is getting from the parking lot to the 1st tee. The course routing, cart path markings, Direction markers REALLY need improvements. Other than that, I do like this course. It's fun to play, has some good challenges, a little water but overall, I like the course.
Green but wet
Wildhawk was in really good shape except for the heavy watering which made it very muggy. The greens held shot really well but were on a bit of the slow side due to not having been been cut in awhile because they were so soft.
Very friendly course
Nice layout. Everything right in front of you, except maybe #18.....gotta have some course knowledge on that one.....water in play off the tee. Course was in good condition. No yardage markers though, only 100, 150 and 200 poles. Enjoyed the round. Recommend.
Soggy in August
Course is consistently over water and soggy fairways. Dangerously wet sidewalk and puddles all over the course. Not worth the money
My Favorite Course
I love this course. Why? For every reason you can think of.
very full stocked pro shop and good bar and grill if you live in the area and don't even play golf. No excuse for slow play, the course is well marked and there is little to no rough. But, it must be a retirement mecca. By mid day every bunker on the course is so riddled with foot print they are impossible to play from, it seems nobody cares about maintaining the course as they found it. ( that also holds true for the ball marks on the greens) As in a previous review the one area truly in need of improvement is the tee boxes...very uneven... and, the seed in the sand boxes is growing preventing it from being properly used to patch divots. Could be a great place to play but right now is just average and will be until the pro shop, membership and maintenance staff communicate better with one another.
Look forward to this course
Usually can't get this course on a Hot Deal under $20 but we did this time. The staff is smart and aware of the groupings and shows flexibility when possible. I was told " You're scheduled with another twosome but the previous foursome split up as twosomes. Only twosomes have gone out the last hour 1/2, if you're ready go ahead, the other twosome hasn't checked in yet". That was smart. We finished in 3.3 hrs. The course is green as usual, the greens are Primo as usual, traps have fluff but need weed kill on the edges. Short par 4's give you a sweet chance to keep your score down. Happy to play here when I can.
Good Day But...
Beautiful day, staff was friendly and helpful. Greens were in great shape, fairways and tee boxes were good. Pace of play was great, played with a nice couple and never had to wait. Only issue was the rental clubs. Was from out of town and needed clubs, got a set of $200 clubs and was charged $30 which I felt was high since I only paid $43 to play with cart.
Thanks for your comment. Due to the exceptionally hot weather the past week we had to apply more water to the course than usual. We will start cutting back on the water when the temps cool.
The greens are mowed everyday but were a little slower due the wetness. We normally keep them at 10 on the stimpmeter.
