Herons Glen Golf & Country Club

First: I belong to and have played at multiple country clubs over the past 15 years

Secondly : Any bad review at this place is from someone way to picky and probably does not review anything fairly. There is nothing bad period. I read many reviews before I played and it almost turned me off but I went anyways.

To all who have left poor reviews:

Keep in mind that they are allowing you to play at there private club for a very reasonable rate.

Now for the reason your reading this:

1. The course is phenomenal, beautifully maintained and has many flowers and pretty trees.

2. Many people complained about the length of the drive between holes and the drive between houses ( This is very normal at many courses and here it is no different. The length between holes is not long at all )

3. The drive from hole 9- hole 10 is like 2 minutes. I'll give directions at the end.

4. The shotgun start ( Tues, wed and Saturdays at 1pm tee times )is actually very cool and all they do is send 4somes to each hole and everyone starts at the same time. Most of the players are members and very few guest. This is because they have many players and they have it nailed perfectly. You'll be hitting your first shot at 1:07-1:12 no problems.

5. The staff could not have been nicer, the starters have everything in order and that is refreshing.

6. There is no one to load your bag ( who cares, the carts are like 10 feet away ) plus you don't have to spend extra money on tips)

7. There is no beverage cart- I'm there to play golf, not drink and eat.

8. The condition of the fairways and greens were perfect, the greens rolled about average in speed. great for the average player. The ball sits up nice on the fairway or rough for easy hitting.

9. The carts are fast and nice, not brand new but perfect for this course. No gps on them so bring your own gps or go off the well marked course markings.

So now for some suggestions if you choose this course:

1. Bring a credit card as they do not take cash at this course.

2. Show up early so you can get through the security gate and get to the clubhouse

3. The starter wants you at the range and in your cart ready to go by 12:45 for the 1pm shotgun start

4. Hit balls because the range is beautiful and well worth it ( balls are included with round)

5.Buy or ask for the course book, you will need it for a few holes to play it better.

6.Directions to #10 ( leave holes nine and head down the path, make a left turn onto the street, go to the first stop sign and go right, go to the next stop sign, after that hole #10 cart path is about 25 feet past that stop sign. Its about a 2 minute drive, no big deal, carts are fast )

Course was tight but fair. Good condition. Only problem was residents who thought they should have priority above all else. Won’t go back. Seems even the course staff recognized the issue.

Enjoy the course immensely played with three members and they were very knowledgeable and welcoming!

Play it. Members are great. And 6 sets of tees to fit all levels of play.

For Southwest FL public not too bad. Course is pretty tight and not long. Everything was is decent shape. Played in the 1pm shotgun and pace was a just a little slow. Would recommend over other public courses in the area.

Played in the Wed afternoon shotgun. Even though they had more than one group on some holes, the pace was great! Course is in very good shape. The greens are a little slow. Fairways and tees are in good shape. As mentioned before the design of the course leaves something to be desired due to all the extra driving between holes between houses and on the neighbourhood streets.

played with the shotgun start - we were assigned as the B team, thus we had to wait until the A team played and left. We kept our pace steady but the "rangers" told us to pick it up. Really??? For the price we paid, we were here to enjoy the day and the game. We completed our round in 4 hours and 10 minutes - what is up with this type of harassment, Not a good way to treat your paying guests. Second thoughts on considering this course for future rounds. Our money can pay and play elsewhere.

First time playing it. Fairways and greens were little shaggy but in very good condition. Had to hit the putts in stead just rolling them. I would like to see the fairways and fringes a little tighter. They did say in the pro shop that they were not quit season ready. Over all a very nice course and would play it again when it preferably in the midst of the season.

From the pro shop staff to the starter, we felt welcome. the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The course was in great shape, but the greens putted a little slow. The bunkers were hard, but easy to hit out of. We played 18 holes in 4 hours...... after the round we had a drink in the restaurant and were made welcome and service was good. Would definately play again.

I usually don’t write bad reviews regardless but this course is in the absolute worst condition.

I have every seen. I have played it a few more times to give it justice but it continues to get worse not better. Will not go into specifics because Everything from tee to green was absolutely terrible. The greens being the worst by far. This course used to be one of my favorites because of the greens. Don’t waste your time or money. I hope someone at Herons Glen cares enough to start correcting the problem! Go next door to Magnolia Landing.

love this course, we took two friends with us whom had never played there. some confusion on check in to pay as the guy behind the counter could not find our name ???? told him we had booked with Golf Now and he rudely implied it was not there, so went to get paper the other man in office asked our last name and found it on his computer. It was a bit daunting to say the least as it was stated he did not know how we got it for the price we paid ??? where is that coming from ?? second time this has happened at this course.

It was ok. The course was in quite good condition but the driving between holes was outrageous a lot of houses to drive around. The front nine is quite short although the back nine was a decent test.

Great course great shape and challenging for All levels of play.
