Monarch Bay Golf Club - Tony Lema Course

Came with free breakfast and lunch coupons with two beverages for around $55! Course was a bit muddy from the storm so had to take that in consideration. One of the longest public courses around from the tips (7k yards). With the wind, you will need luck for two holes for sure (one long par 4 and one long par 5). Pace was just ok due to cart path only (4 1/2 hours). Overall Great Value!!!

Started at 12:50 and only got through 14, even with sundown at 5:30.

It was a Monday round which I enjoy and the starter paired my son and I with two ladies who were a joy to play with. Very easy and also played quite fast. Almost no wind at first but later it did pickup. Would like the menu to be more expansive like it was before. Pace was excellent and greens fast .

Excellent condition. Also, is a great course to play due to the price.

I was very pleased with my first time playing this course. The staff were friendly and accomodating. Will definitely come back and hopefully complete a round next time.

This coarse became one of my most favorite in Bay Area . Long distance require to fairway wood and hybrid clubs many times. Afternoon , there is always hard wind so have to aim to both side of fairway. However I had a very nice experience at here!

Considering greens had recently been aerated, I found the conditions very good, with good length from blues. Weather was great and views of the bay, from SM bridge to SF city and bay bridge were amazing.

Would definitely want to replay the course. Weather was great and we finished the round in about 3 and a half hours. Overall condition of the course was very good.

This course is Challenging especially with the Wind that is so unpredictable. The first time I played this course I spent it in the Bunker I call the Beach.

I love this Course with the great view of the Bay and the wild life. If my game isn't on I could at least enjoy the view!

Fairways aerated early.greens are soft and receptive but roll beautiful.pace of play was fast.nice day at the lema.

THERE ARE NO SIGNS AND THE STAFF DON'T TELL YOU WHEN YOU PAY, BUT YOU WILL BE PLAYING ON THE SAME COURSE AS GUYS PLAYING "SOCCER GOLF". EACH SPORT HAS A SEPERATE TEE BOX, THEN THE SOCCER GUYS HAVE A BARREL-SIZE CUP NEAR THE GREEN WITH A FLAG. THE TWO GAMES AREN'T PLAYED ON THE SAME HOLE AT THE SAME TIME, SO FAR, BUT SINCE THE SOCCER GAME IS SO MUCH FASTER, YOU CONSTANTLY HAVE A BUNCH OF GUYS WAITING FOR YOU TO FINISH UP. I HEARD ONE OF THE SOCCER GUYS COMPLAINING TO THE STARTER ABOUT THE GOLF GUYS HOLDING THEM UP! THERE ARE TRACKS ACROSS THE GREENS FROM SOCCER SHOES RUNNING ACROSS THEM AND LOOKING AT THE GREEN AND SEEING TWO FLAGS IS DISTRACTING. GOLF PEOPLE ARE ANGRY ABOUT THIS SUDDEN INVASION AND I'M SURE THEY ARE GOING TO LOSE PEOPLE WHO HAVE PLAYED HERE FOR YEARS. I'VE LOVED THE COURSE, BEEN PLAYING HERE A LONG TIME, BUT TODAY I'M PLAYING ELSEWHERE. I'M SURE SOCCER GOLF IS FUN, BUT IT NEEDS TO BE PLAYED ON A "SOCCER GOLF COURSE", NOT A "GOLF GOLF COURSE". I GUESS CHARGING PEOPLE TO PLAY SOCCER GOLF WILL BRING IN SOME MONEY, MAYBE EVEN ENOUGH TO MAKE UP FOR THE GOLFERS THEY'RE LOSING.

Course is clean. However, Marshalls did a poor job keeping pace of play. A 4-hour round should not take 6-hours to play. Prepare to skip holes (and slow groups) if you want to complete the round in a decent amount of time.

title says it like it is . the wind is always there and can push a poor shot to being a very bad location. The great thing is the temp. is always cooler on the bay than a few miles inland.

As a twosome we caught up the the threesome in front of us on the third hole. It wasn't until a hole or two later that we realized the real problem, the group of 6 in front of them. Really? We didn't see a Marshall until the 16th.

Great greens, fairways in good shape; A bit of aeration on some of the back nine, but overall good condition. Make sure you look out for the resident fox while you play. He seems to be a course pet, and shows up on several of the holes... :)

decent layout, not bad greens, good bay view, a couple of holes with tree line, many holes with strong bay wind and somewhat challenge.

Course is maintained very well but I would suggest following
1. There are places hole direction missing. Since I was playing first time, it was hard to find some holes.
2. There are long grass and weeds everywhere. Hard to find balls if they bounce out of fairway

Great course. Good pace of play. Sometimes the pace can be slow, but this time was excellent. Very scenic. It's always fun to spot the resident fox who lives on the course.

I'm from O.C., so this was windy for me. I'd say we faced gusts to 25 mph. I had to club up three clubs on a few holes. At least it was a steady direction coming off the water. The course itself was in great shape with a few mushy areas. The greens were pretty smooth, but you had to calculate the effect on the wind as well as slope and speed. Bunkering was a little on the challenging side. Sand in the bunkers was good in some, sparse on others. Tee boxes were kinda shabby. Fairways were very good. Overall it was hard to score well, but it made for a creative day of links golf. I had a great time.

The sand in some of the bunkers was like cement. Pace of play was slow, we had to wait at every tee box for the group ahead to tee off who in turn were waiting for the group ahead of them.
No cart service on the course on a busy Friday.
