About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 03/2019.
The Country Club of Orange Park provides a scenic challenge with a diverse landscape of protected wetlands and towering oak trees. There is also a bird sanctuary that runs along the entire right side of the first five holes, offering golfers a glimpse of the wildlife that inhabit the golf course including wild turkeys, deer, and osprey. The layout features tree-lined fairways and large greens. The golf course has a more traditional feel with tees and fairways that were cut close to the greens, resulting in a narrow field of play. There is water on 14 holes and bunkers strategically placed around the greens.

A bit slow
My friend Jeff and I played on Labor Day and had a great time. The course was in very good shape from tee to green. The only negative was that the greens were a bit slow. They looked great but perhaps weren't cut as short as they could be due to the heat. The score card was a bit confusing as we started on 10 according to the card but signs on the course said it was number 1. I guess they need to reprint the cards or play it the course the way it used to be. Overall, it was a challenging experience and we are looking forward to playing the course again.
This course has potential.
The reviews all stated that the greens were in good shape, but I found some of the greens had patch work repairs and that the aerated holes were still present. One green side bunker looked as if there was a mud bogging event in it. But the biggest problem I had is that I was a single and came up behind a fivesum, which happen to be the owner of the course. The group wouldn't let me play through and they had an entourage of five carts, one was the golf pro who wasn't playing but drove his cart right up to the greens and on the tee boxes to watch. I know your the owner, but play like you would want your patrons to play on your golf course!
Course in Good Shape
This course was a great bargain in my opinion. Conditions were good to very good. I had heard the greens had been rough a few weeks ago but that was certainly not the case today. Putts rolled true all day long. There are enough challenges (water, OB, trees, bunkers) to keep you on your toes but it is a very fair set up causing you to use your head and not automatically pull out the driver on all the non-par 3 tee shots. Our group had a great time and I would recommend this course. I look forward to playing it again!
Greens were in great shape.
It was a rainy Saturday but the course was a solid experience to take in. The greens were in great shape considering the time of the year and the rates were very strong considering the course was in decent shape. As always a good time at the CC of OP.
good place to play!
I play here every time I come to jacksonville, great value for the money
Course as nice layout
Fairways and tee boxes in excellent condition. The greens can use a little work. Greens were slow and hairy
outing in my way
I got a hot deal 2 days in advance for 2. There was a huge work outing / tournament that started same as our tee time. We literally couldn't play.. the outing group was obnoxious so we left.
good course, good time.
Played on a Thursday, almost had the course to ourselves. Good course conditions, greens a bit slow that day. Played from the blue tees, 6500 yds. Good mix of challenging vs easier holes.
would recommend.
Becoming my local favorite
I was fortunate to get out ahead of my scheduled tee time and slotted into the third time of the day.
I marked the pace of play at 4 hours even though I finished in under 3.5. This is based on experience when playing here.
This is not a "grip it and rip it" course with the exception of a couple of holes. Lots of water, brush, and some well placed trees make this enjoyable and challenging.
There are some washout areas due to recent flooding so the fairways and greens are spotty in places. That is unavoidable.
Staff is cordial and I feel the price for the value is worth it.
Not at this time.
Greens not in very good shape. Very slow. Would not go back at this time even for the $ 25.00 I paid. Its not the money but the little time some of us have to play golf. These courses need to be in much better shape for people to come back and play. I try to give a course a nice review but that's why I write these to let people know. I read these reviews all the time and have not book some course because of the fair reviews people write on here.
Took customers and they were not happy.
Career Round-Love the course!
Greens are spotty but decent. Course is in good overall shape. I like the variety of holes and it is not so penal as to make it not enjoyable to play. Practice areas are good and bar is friendly.
Overall good conditions.
Half of the greens are being repaired. Hope the method of repairs is worth the wait. Will go back in 3 months. I generally play this course 4-5 times a year.
Very open for play.
Nice layout and generally maintained. There were many greens that needed serious attention. We invoked the two put rule. Great lounge with great food.
Fallen so far, look elsewhere
Played July 7th, Sunday morning. Having played CCOP for over a decade, I have never seen the course in worse condition, with service (lack thereof) to match. I know that its been a tough season weather-wise, but having worked in the industry for years, I know that can't be all. I hope they step it up, there's plenty to improve. Disappointed from beginning to end.
Disappointing & Sad
Buckle your chin straps. The course is nowhere near the condition it used to be in when it hosted the NGA tour. Really disappointing.
Summer greens blues
The Country Club of Orange Park is one of the nicer courses in the Jacksonville area with a great layout and for the most part a real treat to play. However, during a round in early July the greens were in poor condition, which was a surprise considering their pristine condition about two months before. But I'm certain the greens are being addressed and by fall it should be back in top shape again.
decent course for the price. Not perfect.
Always a good experience, with the exception that some of the greens and holes need attention. Fairly priced for the experience though.
Greens had been top dressed
very disappointed that when I booked time was not informed that the greens had been top dressed. If I had known I would not have played there. Was not worth the price paid.
Great layout.
Being that it's summer in Florida the greens were sanded, and extremely slow. For a 10ft putt you had to hit it like it was a 15-17ft putt.
Other than that, the yardage on the scorecard differs from the yardage on the teebox marker, noticed this around the 12th hole.
Another thing is there are no pictures of the holes. So never having played this before I had no idea that water was in certain spots, or what the hole layout looked like. Which can cost you a few stroked on top of slow greens already.
Lastly, you have to drive around and waste time looking for the yardage markers, they aren't posts, they are small, circular, colored markers.
Overall could be a fun, challenging course if the conditions are right. Maybe an early spring or fall course, definitely not a summer course at all. Wish I would've known that prior to spend 36$ and driving 45 minutes to golf.
Greens need attention
Greens are a little rough. We out paced the greens crew at 7:30 tee off so last 9 the greens were uncleared
