About
Neighbor to the beautiful Ravine State Gardens, Palatka Golf Club offers a game that is as scenic as it is entertaining. Designed by Donald Ross in 1925, the golf course was created with all skill levels of golfers in mind. The layout is player friendly, but there are still many challenging elements to keep golfers on their toes, including Ross' signature "turtleback" greens. There are also numerous bunkers fiercely guarding the greens. The signature hole of the course is the par-3 third. This 188-yard hole is a test of accuracy, requiring a difficult tee shot to a well bunkered green. Palatka Golf Club also offers a unique aqua driving range for golfers to use.

Fun day
Me and my friend had a great day the pace of play was a little slow
Decent course, weird layout, not enjoyable when busy
To start, this course is moderately challenging. Some holes have narrow fairways, most of the greens are very small, a lot of holes are blind tee shots(can't see the green), and there was a lot of false fronts. If I had played this course a few times before I would have scored better(prior hole knowledge helps greatly on this course). The greens and fairways were in decent shape, the rough was somewhat long, the bunkers were horribly maintained. The only real negative takeways were how weird the holes were laid out. It felt like we would finish a hole, only to drive backwards down the fairway to the teebox on the next hole. This left you feeling very vulnerable to groups behind you that were hitting their approach shots. Also, many teeboxes were extremely close to the back of some of the greens, so if a player from the group behind were to hit a long shot, we would be ducking for our lives as we tried to tee off. This situation was made even worse since it was a busy Saturday afternoon. Aside from the odd layout, the course was fun to play. The only other thing to mention was the driving range. The driving range is actually an irrigation pond that you hit floating balls into. The novelty factor is cool, but makes for actual practice irrelevant. There are no targets, the balls do not fly very far or straight, and you have no sense of how good you are directionally. The only thing beneficial was to loosen up the body by hitting balls aimlessly into a body of water...which like I said felt pretty cool.
Pretty good overall
Playing golf out in the country has its charm.. But also some rough spots. The cart paths can knock you around a bit..
Fairways and greens in good shape. Nice layout. Raised tiny greens can be a good test of your short game.
Some say it's a tight course.. I don't think so.. Good wide fairways and some good doglegs.. Will play again.
Classic Donald Ross
Beautiful layout a bit off the beaten path for Florida golf. A hidden gem! Open layout with challenges due to tree placement and small greens. Greens are mostly crowned so putting is not easy. I play here every year I come down.
The course was in great shape, lush fairway’s and greens. Staff was friendly and helpful. Lunch afterwards at the clubhouse was delicious. Overall great day at the club
Nice old layout. Pete Dye course
greens were great fairways were good, sand has a bit to be desired. Small greens very challenging course.
Typical Donald Ross
The Palatka Golf Course is your typical Donald Ross design course. The fairways narrow down to a smallish greens that are well protected with bunkering. The greens and fairways at Palatka are in wonderful shape. My one negative is that the sand traps need maintenance - the sand is inconsistent and there is some grass growing in the traps. Avoid the traps and you'll come away with a very pleasant golf experience.
Old course and still challenging
Great values for money, fairways are thick and lush and greens are great just a little slow
Tee boxes have coverage of grass too
Good day
Of course was in excellent shape with the course was crowded but everyone is playing in moving right along will be back soon
Sand traps
All though the fairways and the greens are well taking care of the sand traps are in need of workm
Disappointed this time around
Played course in Feb 2021 2x and enjoyed it very much as it was in great shape and manicured. We played right around a Jr fla pga event .
This visit there was a very noticeable lapse in maintenance, tees were very shaggy, fairways long, grass in trap faces and no edging of traps. Greens in good shape but seemed smaller than ever . Price still great but mayBe we caught it just before the tournament last year and it was at its best, not so much this time.
