Palatka Golf Club
About
Neighbor to the beautiful Ravine State Gardens, Palatka Golf Club offers a game that is as scenic as it is entertaining. Designed by Donald Ross in 1925, the golf course was created with all skill levels of golfers in mind. The layout is player friendly, but there are still many challenging elements to keep golfers on their toes, including Ross' signature "turtleback" greens. There are also numerous bunkers fiercely guarding the greens. The signature hole of the course is the par-3 third. This 188-yard hole is a test of accuracy, requiring a difficult tee shot to a well bunkered green. Palatka Golf Club also offers a unique aqua driving range for golfers to use.

Give it week or so.
Palatka is a very playable 100 year old Donald Ross course. Lots of fun and overall in good shape. They have just aerated the greens and they're rough right now. I'd give it a week or so to recover. Big advantage Palatka has is they are high and dry. When everything else is a mudhole, you can play here no problem.
Greens are small and have lots of turf issues
Great place to focus on your short game at a great price with fast play.
Sure. I’d play here again
Was a little surprised to learn that although Golf Now stated that there was $0.00 due at the course, a disclaimer was added in the body of the reservation stating $5 per golfer was due at the course. What a load of BS! Oh well. It was still a decent price. The course is old with a lot of character; left and right doglegs and mature trees. Definitely cannot hit driver off every tee so the (slightly over) 6000 yards off the blues does not mean the course is easy. Small, elevated greens were a challenge to hit and large waste areas added extra difficulty. Bunkers were in great condition. Some of the greens need some TLC as there are some bare spots. The guy who mows the greens needs to be retrained or reassigned - Horrible! I played on a Saturday afternoon and the there was no refreshment cart but there is a water jug at about every other tee box.
Fun Course
The staff has really brought this course up to speed. I played it about 18 months ago and it was in rough shape. Now it's in really good shape with the exception of one or two greens, but this is Florida and most courses in the area have the same type of green issue-bare spots. Overall, we had a good round and lots of fun. I will definitely play there again!!
Not for me.
Greens very small and saucer-ed.Greens and tee boxes right next to each other. It might be a good nine hole course but to pact in for eighteen. We won't be back!
good
Enjoyed playing this course and hope to play again on my return to Florida.
nice short course
great for seniors nice layout get the yardage book
Surprise
The surprise is you get to pay a non residents fee at check-in, yet no one asked if I was a city resident. I guess they assume that if you book and pay with GN.
Great value- old style course
The greens were in great shape especially given the time of year The greens have a lot of false fronts so you might want to take an extra club for your approach shots it appears they have put their money into maintaining the fairways and the greens rest of the course needs some work
Nice track - much more open than most Florida courses
It was worth the 40 minute drive from Crescent Beach and I’d play it again
The best condition of any course I’ve played in the area
Fairways actually have grass! Greens in great shape. Superintendent should be commended .
Slow.....
We normally love playing Palatka however during March every year there are tournaments (which we knew) and apparently the ones in the tournament this weekend were out playing as well as the general public. Play was very slow however there was a group of 3 in front of us (I would say about 25 years old) and when they finished a green they would then proceed to throw down a few balls and continue to practice on the green. This would go on for several minutes even though we were on the fairway waiting to hit onto the green and there were other groups lined up behind us also waiting. My wife finally called the clubhouse. So these clowns would not do this when one of the course employees was there but as soon as he left they continued. Ended up taking close to 5 hours to finish which is close to double our normal 18 hole time. I would definitely not recommend Palatka during March any year and we won't be back before heading home to Ontario. It was a very aggravating and disappointing day. The course should have been letting people know what was going on ahead of time or just close the course to the public. We also saw 6 other people get fed up and leave while we were there.... terrible.
What a surprise.
The course was in better shape than I have seen it in a while. Tee boxes were in great shape, fairways were well cut and the greens were all green and fast. The staff was excellent and the club house was in great condition. The pace of play was very good for most of the game. I hooked up with two men (John and Dave) that played like I want to play when I grow up. I had a great time and look forward to my next round. Kudos to the staff and grounds keepers for a great job.
JUST GO PLAY THERE!
Great old Don Ross course with small greens and bunkers. $10 Golf Now Hot Deal and course charged me $5 for non- Palatka resident but a small price to pay for this historic layout. Give it a try on your travels though Florida and you won't be disappointed.
The course was great shape even after having youth tournament.
After not playing in 4 years I found was a great course to get started again. Some danger if you shanked it but the fairways are open enough to if you hit it straight. I really enjoyed the course will definitely play again.
