About
Neighbor to the beautiful Ravine State Gardens, Palatka Golf Club offers a game that is as scenic as it is entertaining. Designed by Donald Ross in 1925, the golf course was created with all skill levels of golfers in mind. The layout is player friendly, but there are still many challenging elements to keep golfers on their toes, including Ross' signature "turtleback" greens. There are also numerous bunkers fiercely guarding the greens. The signature hole of the course is the par-3 third. This 188-yard hole is a test of accuracy, requiring a difficult tee shot to a well bunkered green. Palatka Golf Club also offers a unique aqua driving range for golfers to use.

Golfer Reviews
Great Bones, Could Use a Refresher
Great bones, as in this course is a great, shorter, classic layout of holes. The maintenance staff is doing as good a job as they can considering the (lack of) resources they probably have, and the age of the architecture. This course could definitely use a full refurbish job. The greens complexes and bunkers are really showing their age, and could be resurfaced and redone. Otherwise, it was an enjoyable course to play for a recreational Saturday morning round, and a reasonable value at $20 for 9 holes or $29 for 18 with cart included. Would return to see the back nine, as I only had time allocated for 9 holes.
so much fun
I really enjoy this course , It's never crowded , the pro shop staff is super friendly , they just need to cut the rough down.
Donald Ross would roll over in his grave
The course is in terrible shape, the rough is all dollar weed, many sandy spots. The greens were slow, not in bad shape mostly.
The T boxes are uneven and in terrible shape, had to T it up anywhere on the T box, just to find a decent spot.
Pleasantly surprised!
The greens at Palatka are very well kept; perhaps even perfect, and the club house is terrific! Best $6 breakfast in America and very friendly staff. I belong to a private club that’s currently under renovation, so went to Palatka just to play some real golf, but I’ll definitely be back!
Very nice greens
Nice course for the money. Fairway conditions were a little rough in spots but the greens were in great shape. Rolled a little slow but true. Great layout.
Great little Donald Ross course with small greens & close green to tee walks. Sometimes the tees are a little too close. Green speed is slow due to summer grass height required to prevent burnout. Fun course with challenges from the 6000 yard back tees that plays longer than you would think.
True Florida golf
Such a gem in Palatka. Such a historic golf course with the friendliest staff (especially the ladies at the bar and drive through window). It’s rough around the edges but such a unique and fun course design. Would definitely recommend.
It's a shame no more love is shown
The course layout is great but the course conditions were not very good at all. Most holes had no yardage markers, and the fairways were in bad shape. I would not play it again as I drove 35 miles to try it out in lieu of it being a Donald Ross design. Tiny greens which made it more fun.
Classic Old Florida Course
This course is in over all good condition and I love the fast greens. For the price it offers an excellent value for the money!
Don’t be fooled
Although this course isn’t long from the back tees and you have plenty of space to hit driver don’t think this is easy course. Classic Ross course with tough greens to both hit, and putt when you do hit one. Tee boxes needed work, fairways were perfect, rough was cross between grass and sand. Every green except one was in great condition but were very slow. Overall I enjoyed the course, I got a good deal using Golfnow. Id recommend playing it at least once to appreciate the differences between green designs of the early years to what we get present day.
Nice day
2 of us played in 2 hour 45 min. Greens in great shape. Tough to read if you have not played it. I played like do do but enjoyed the course !
Nice Day
For early Fla. spring the course is in good shape. Grass is growing and there looks to be continual effort to improve the fairways. The greens are rolling and in good shape. This is where a few of the extra shots come in. Local to me and I enjoy playing there a couple of times per month.
Good “old-school” course
Links layout with a couple challenging dog-legs. Greens were exceptional well-kept. Don’t write off this course just because it’s in Palatka.
Great day
The course is handling the Coronavirus health scare very well. They allow one person per cart, the holes are cut 1 inch deep so you don’t have to reach in, no rakes in the bunkers, and the carts are cleaned after every use.
The only minor ding on the round was that the greens, though in perfect shape, were very slow. No word on why they weren’t mowed closer.
All In all, well worth the trip from Jacksonville for a Donald Ross hidden gem.
Great course
Very great condition. Greens are tiny and elevated. Fairways are in excellent shape as our the greens. Greens could be a little more faster for me. Great layout. Would highly recommend this course.
Interesting old school designed course -
Interesting old school designed course - fairways were in good shape. Really disliked the the postage stamp crowned greens! Many of the tee boxes were in rough condition. Drove over an hour to play this course - best part of the experience was the drive! Staff working on-site very very friendly and professional. Thumbs down from me -
