Palatka Golf Club
About
Neighbor to the beautiful Ravine State Gardens, Palatka Golf Club offers a game that is as scenic as it is entertaining. Designed by Donald Ross in 1925, the golf course was created with all skill levels of golfers in mind. The layout is player friendly, but there are still many challenging elements to keep golfers on their toes, including Ross' signature "turtleback" greens. There are also numerous bunkers fiercely guarding the greens. The signature hole of the course is the par-3 third. This 188-yard hole is a test of accuracy, requiring a difficult tee shot to a well bunkered green. Palatka Golf Club also offers a unique aqua driving range for golfers to use.

old type course
the greens are not big but are very slow by todays speeds at most courses. very cheap green fees.
Great Course
Golf course was in great condition. Fairways were perfect height and rough was just high enough to provide a reasonable challenge. Greens were moderately fast and consistent. I've played Palatka a number of times and always find it to be in great condition.
Hidden Gem
Had heard some good things about this course so made my way over from St. Augustine area to give it a crack - anytime you can play a Donald Ross layout for $25 you gotta go - little rough around the edges, course not the condition you find many of the Florida courses this time of year but not terrible -small greens were mostly slow, probably from morning dew but did face some speedy down hill putts that had plenty of pace - good design of holes and par 3's were tough, especilly #3 - almost 190 uphill from blue tees - after playing most Florida courses with lots of water in play this course offered just a bit less stress - only complaint is one I have with many courses - trouble immediately in front of the red ( up front) tees - my wife is a relative beginner so she sometimes struggles getting the ball in the air - one of my pet beefs with designers is putting trouble - water - sand - etc right in front of those up tees and gobbling up shots of people who need all the encouragement & help they can get when first atking up the game - other than that a nice day & I would return
Great Old Course
I really great example of an OLD course. It's well maintained. Enjoyed the elevations changes. Even though the course is short, it has enough challenges for everyone. The greens are old style small, and a bit slow, but the ball rolled well. Well placed bunkers and some were challenging. Tees and fairways were in nice shape, too. I will definitely be returning to play this course again.
City of Palatka discourages outsiders
The only negative about this course is the fact that they have to charge you and extra $5 as a tax by the city of palatka on people who are not residents of Palatka. It makes you feel unwelcome.
Rained out
I got rained out, but the wait for a representative at golf now was 4 hours and 12 minutes, so I am out the money I paid. Such is life.
Passing Through
Greens were in great shape, however Sand bunkers need sand, drainage is poor
A nice little gem that is fun
Second time here and it's a nice little course. A bit short but plenty challenging. A lot of the "casual sand" the fairways are in nice shape but on many holes the rough was lacking grass, some severely. The greens were a bit hairy but pretty fast. Hard to read. Will play again. Andy? in the pro shop was nice and accommodating. ONLY ONE REAL COMPLAINT WAS THEY STARTED A GROUP OF 5 JUST AHEAD OF US and we waited every hole until we passed at the turn
Great Donald Ross Course
Great staff and layout! By no means over the top this course has everything you need.. A great value.
drawbacks
This is an excellent Course to play, the people are friendly But the city of Palatka is greedy. They require the course to discriminate against you if you are not from Palatka and to charge you an addition so called tax of $5. Golf now does not mention this until after you have booked your game and even then you would probably miss it if you did not know it was going to happen. Golf NOw in my opinion should be showing it upfront as a city surcharge on tourists so that tourists realize how much they will be paying upfront.
I like the course but I do not like the sneaky way this surcharge is being handled.
Nice Average Course
We have probably played Palatka more then any other course while in Florida. However the EXTRA tax of $5 per person for non-Palatka residents on top of close to $10 in other taxes is starting to make us look elsewhere. There are better buys around so unfortunately we will not be playing here as much as we used to. If you get a cheaper online price it can help make the round more affordable. Course is fairly well maintained although last year there was some major damage from some kind of animals. Greens are in nice shape. Holes are varied and interesting. Course has been here a long time. Overall we like Palatka but the extra $5 per person fee for non-residents is a BIG turnoff so keep this in mind if you are considering playing this course.
Old School Golf
A Donald Ross course designed in the 1920s. If you’re into old school golf where the fairways aren’t lined with houses, there isn’t a bunch of water or forced carries, but a really good challenge, then this is the place for you. If you feel like you can test your game against some of the best amateurs in the country come visit in March and play the Florida Azalea Am. And if you don’t think you can keep par with the elite, there are 5 flights in addition to the champ flight.
Be
I played by myself in right around 2 hours for 18 holes. It was a great day on the course. The layout makes it more difficult than the yardage may make you think. The course was in better condition than I have ever seen. It was the first time I played there in quite a while. It was definitely worth the money and the course’s conditions would compare to that of a course at double the price. The staff is always very hospitable here as well. Very much enjoyable golf round.
Nice course for fast play
The course has improved in the last years. The greens are not to fast, good bunkers. The fairways are sometimes a little soft which is not easy to play. But anyhow, to play Palatka is value for money.
