Kingwood Golf Club & Resort
About
Kingwood Golf Club in Clayton is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, surrounded by nearly 150,000 acres of protected national forest. While playing the course, it's likely you'll hear the roar of the nearby Chattooga River. The course is considered one of Georgia's best, thanks in large part to the stunning location, which lends mature hardwoods, rippling brooks, and lush green hills. The visually stunning golf course can seem intimidating, but four sets of tees guarantee that players of all skill levels can enjoy playing it. The par-71 layout measures just over 6,000 yards, a demanding length given the small greens and tight landing areas. A variety of elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers will test your accuracy at Kingwood G.C. Tee shot placement will also be an important factor in your score.

A Favorite
Great mountain layout, scenic views, well maintained. Excellent Bar and restaurant. Wonderful value as a resort.
very nice course
I liked the layout. A couple of quirky holes. Tough walk as it was cart path only and very slow greens. I look forward to playing this course with open fairways and fast greens.
This is a fun course
enjoyed round. Staff friendly, course very nice for this time of year.
Kingwood
Tight, hilly and very challenging and there is only one difficult blind tee shot
Fun, short, challenging
I have played this course several times and always enjoyed it.
The jewel of NE GA.
Short but challenging and fun. Elevated greens, creeks and hilly. One of my favorite courses.
Superior greens
Great mountain golf. Excellent condition. Challenging. Short but tricky.
well worth a visit
I am 9 and my wife is 19 handicap and we played Kingwood 3 times in 4 days. A short course (about 6000 yds) from the back tee but don't let that put you off. There are enough holes where you can hit driver to shorten tricky (dogleg) 4's or make 5's in two. Course condition pretty good eventhough greens had recently been airated but putted ok. Cart man very friendly with dood advice on other courses to think about playing. The only problem were the flies when playing holes through trees (probably the time of year) they were out in abundance and at times it was very unpleasent. An upside on the wild life was watching a 3 ft long black snake in the stream with guards the 16th green - awesome.
Fun with great views
Great little course we found. Cant wait to go try when the greens are ready.(had been aerated and sanded). Tough course when you havnt played it before. We are looking forward to the next round with these guys.
Great value
This is one of my favorite courses in the area and I will be back.
Fun mountain golf
Kingwood is a short, mountain style golf course. I played it from the back tees and hit driver 6 times. The course is in great shape, with firm greens that roll well. My favorite hole is #13; a beautiful flat hole along a meandering creek. However, #17 may be one of the worst golf holes ever designed, with almost no landing area for the tee shot and a green that is stuck behind a hill. It looks like they built 17 other holes and realized they had to stick one more somewhere. Other than that, it's fun, well conditioned, and you can get around pretty quick. A little pricey at $61.
Mountain course near highlands
Well maintained & challenging with lots of elevation changes. Riding only as the carts are needed to get around. Good firm greens and dramatic sloping fairways and a couple of blind corner drops. Lotsa fun for the money.
Mountain Course
very nice track great layout excellent condition challenging par 3's very nice restaurant a must play
Don't miss playing Kingwood
Great condition and challenge. Greens roll true. Distance of this course seems short until you play it. Shorter holes are the most difficult so don't grip it and rip it. I'll be back next year with some of my fellow golfers.
Beautiful course But!
Had to play front nine twice. Disappointing . Wanted to play back nine but was closed when we made turn. Few minutes later back nine was open. I would have waited but was not offered the opportunity
Great mountain course.
Excellent condition -bent grass greens were outstanding. Great mountain views. For the price, unbeatable for northeast Georgia
Looking forward to next time!
Tough the first time! Looking forward to playing again with knowledge I have now. Short, but demanding accuracy. Beautiful views.
Fun,scenic, and a strategic course
Several elevated greens that require one or two clubs more and several holes downhill where a driver is not required. Not a long course but one that makes you think. It is in excellent shape.
A great golf outing...
This was a fun course. Challenging yet manageable. I will return to play again.
It was good
Overall the course was great with the exception of hole 5 with all the goose droppings ...not cool, the pace of play was very slow due to the fact that it was cart path only n there wasn't hardly any yardage markers n gps did not work there so I was pretty much guessing on every shot, but overall it was very well maintained nice smooth greens
