Awful course
Staff was rude, the course conditions are to blame for this review. The greens weren't even grass. Several of them were more brown and bumpy than the fairways. Worse course I've played in my life
Beautiful old course
Enjoyed the layout. Greens not in very good shape. #8 and #9 greens 50% sand with no grass. Rough could use a trim. Fairways and tees were good. Pace of play slow to start due to first tee program playing a few holes. Marshall allowed uso play through them after two holes and pace was good after that. I'd love to play this cours again when the greens are repaired. I loved the classical layout and the mature trees added a nice challenge to go along with the elevated greens.
Course help with overall game
To be a 9-hole course It is challenging enough in that it helps with your overall game. From driver>woods>irons and wedges. Who don't want that!
Strong Bang for the Buck
super nice municipal course. (9 hole course) Staff was friendly, course was in great shape. Barely had to come out of pocket to get on the course. The greens will test your skills. I don't remember one green that didn't have some sort of break that needed to be read correctly. Several holes will test your driving accuracy. Great bang for the buck!!!
Very Surprised
I found myself out of town and found this golf course and I must say I was very surprised. The neighborhood may not be the best but the course is wonderful. It's only 9 holes but it is in wonderful condition and they keep it in good shape. I will visit here again when in the neighborhood.
Great 9 holes practice course
I enjoyed playing at John H White. An awesome layout and convenient course for quick round of golf.
First Impression
You only get one shot at a first impression,
I walked in to the club house and gave the attendant my name and told him that I would be walking at 3pm, and he responded with that'll be $12 dollars. I responded with check your computer for James Wilson (this time gave him my full name), at 3 o clock. He immediately got defensive with me and asked me how was I to know, but you're all set. I asked if I needed anything for the starter, he replied very curtly that "I am the starter, I'm running the whole show"! I then asked the names of my playing partners, and he replied, "you can go right now if you want". I preferred to wait instead of playing alone.
I knew this was a "First Tee" golf course, and I knew it was going to be in great shape, but many of the tee boxes had no grass, and the greens looked as if they hadn't been cut in days.
Because it was a hot deal and the price was right, and I choose to walk for the exercise, I got what I wanted to get accomplished!
It's to early in the season for the greens and tee boxes to be in such bad conditions. However, I'll give them another chance, because "The First Tee" will get it together or take their name off the facility!
Respectfully Yours
Great for beginners
This course was wonderful. Everyone was so helpful (I lost my ball in the woods by the maintenance building and the maintenance associate helped me find it!). The holes are relatively straight and not terribly long from the red tees. We are by no means "serious golfers" but we hit a few decent shots and enjoyed the beautiful day. There were a decent number of people out but we never felt rushed or intimidated by our lack of skill.
We will definitely be back!
Excellent course to work on your game!!!
The staff has always been very welcoming and kind. Mr. Brown has a great personality and Mr. Chuck keeps everyone smiling. The greens were a little slow on holes 3, 6, and 8 but they were consistent, just time for a trim!!!
Great Greens
Greens were excellent. Local knowledge is a must, so plan on playing 18. Just 9 holes( 2 times around) but different tees.
Good for practice
The course has some nice holes. Fairways are mostly in good condition. A couple paces in need of repair, but not extensive. Greens rolled true.
Always Enjoy Going!
I always enjoy this course. Price is great. Decent fairways and greens. Plus you really get to use every club in the bag. Nice Mixture of par 3s, 4s, and 5s.
Old school layout
This course offers a great old school layout with small elevated greens, so take extra club if called for. The grounds keepers do a great job of keeping this course free of leaves and the greens weren't in bad shape at all, and the golf staff is very welcoming and friendly. Anytime I have a chance to play here I most definitely will.
