Red Bridge Golf and Country Club
About
Red Bridge Golf & Country Club in Locust is routed through stands of mature trees that give the course a peacefully secluded feel. The layout wanders across gently rolling hills, providing a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. There is a stream that runs throughout the golf course, coming into play on a few holes. The course is seemingly long at 7,100 yards from the back tees but it's more forgiving than it appears, which means players of all skill levels can enjoy the golf course. The design relied heavily on the natural features of the landscape, allowing the course to blend seamlessly into the natural surroundings while also shaping natural hazards. There are also strategically placed bunkers throughout Red Bridge that complement rather than overtake the natural challenges.

Excellent conditioning and greens true
Great layout and course condition excellent for this time of yr. Real pleasure playing in under 4 hrs while still somewhat cool in morning. Definite return to play again as staff is friendly and ensure they move everyone along. Would recommend playing here as it makes u play for position on alot of holes and use every club in bag to accomplish that.
Better Attention to details
Overall the course is nice and in good shape except the number 12 green, it has dead spots all over it. Some of the tee boxes are kind of bad right now as well but I know they are working on them. The manager of the course though needs to pay better attention to details. Addressing these issues would cost hardly nothing as well. What I mean is a majority of the ball washers are bone dry. Pretty cheap to add water to them and put a drop of dish soap in each one. The spouts on the water coolers around the course are filthy, doesn't cost a thing to clean those out, just some elbow grease.
Great time with my buddy
We played today 7/24/2018 and with a threat for rain we had the course to ourselves.Tees, fairways and greens were in great shape and the pace of play couldn't be better. The staff that I encountered were very nice and friendly. I definitely will be back to play the course again.
Fun course
Pretty decent shape considering most of the courses in the area are still struggling with damage from last winter. Most of the fairways and greens were good except for 12; the fairway was mostly dirt and the green had a lot of dead spots. But, overall the course was in really good shape. It’s a really fun and challenging course and is still one of my favorites.
Okay course with snarky staff
We booked this tee time using Golf Now's hot deal time and applied a rewards promo code to get an additional 10 bucks off. We arrived early thinking we would putt a bit and go off early like every other course around Charlotte has allowed if the schedule is open. Well when we checked in the guy at the front desk said something along the lines of "you can pay the difference if you want to go early" since we got the tee time so cheap. He seemed upset that we used a promo code on a hot deal to get our tee time so cheap. Now I can understand not letting people go off early if the schedule was packed, but there was no one going off the first tee for 20 minutes while we waited. If they have a problem with Golf Now I recommend them not using them. When we were finally able to go, after waiting for 20 minutes, there was a foursome that had the same tee time that took ages to play and wouldn't let anyone play through. Ended up being on the course for almost five hours and effectively turning a much looked forward to golf outing with friends into a miserable slog that we couldn't wait to be over.
The course itself was in okay shape. Some of the tee boxes were nothing but dirt, and there were quite a few greens with dead spots all over them making our putts bounce around. Fairways were pretty good. The course is a bit technical in spots, but it is pretty. The layout is a bit funky.
All in all the course is okay, but nothing special. If they get upset about golfer's getting deals from Golf Now, then they better get off Golf Now and try their luck elsewhere. For a golf course to try and be as uppity as a country club, which the name of the course includes but the course and clubhouse leave a lot to be desired, then I would expect at least friendlier staff or a better maintained course to justify it. We won't be back.
Great course
Second time playing this track. Arrived early and the Pro squeezed me in early. Managed to get around in 2.5 hours. Great layout, requiring moving the ball in both directions. Lots of elevation changes add to the difficulty. Also very scenic. Greens were in good shape although a little on the slow side.
dry and hard
The course layout was great. There were some short holes, some long holes, and some really fun holes like the 300 yd par 4 on the back where you can have some fun trying to pop the corner and avoiding the water near the green. I recommend trying, if your pace of play is good. The course itself was very dry and hard so hopefully you are comfortable hitting off tight lies. there are a couple of dead spots on a couple greens, but it didn't really effect the play except for appearances.
Better shape than Shinnecock
Which the exception of 2 greens this course is the best it’s ever been. Staff is very friendly and rangers did there job to monitor pace of play. From CLT this course should be on your top 10 list for courses within an hour drive.
Nerve Racking Experience
Ive been here once several years back and always wanted to return. When I saw this tee time for 20 dollars, I was very pleased. We left after hole 8 and I am surprised we went that far. It started at check in. The guy in front of me was catching an earful for being a few minutes late. Then I checked in. We were a twosome so I knew there was a chance of being paired with someone. We were. When I simply said, "Oh I was hoping we would get lucky and avoid that.", while I was smiling, the guy at the counter said, "Hey you book on GolfNow and thats what you get. It clearly states it.". Then, the starter gave us a 2 minute talk after letting me know we barely made our time. We were on the tee 7 minutes early. The speech included things like don't hit another off the tee if you go OB. Drop with one of your players. Don't look for your ball if you don't see it immediately, drop a ball or just skip to the green. I found out later that they book their times so tight that they are pushing me down the fairways all day long. The course is in great shape, but I think they designed it for pros. Cliffs, blind tee shots, tons of dog legs, deep gulleys, etc. Then there are the insatiable swarms of gnats that are all over you like hair on a gorilla. Relentess. Every shot. Ultimately, most of us get rare time off and have limited funds for golf. I would like to enjoy that time and not be in a foot race to hit my next shot.
Winter Kill
This seems to be the theme for all the courses that have bad greens. On this course there is a problem with only three greens. The gnats are a problem but they are now selling bug spray when you check in.The poana on the greens has died and greens roll around a 9. I like the layout due to no house's on the golf course.
SLOW
I’ve played here about ten times over the last 18 months. The first five were a lot of fun - friendly staff, somewhat challenging, yet fun, course.
The last five times I have played (last time probably being my final round there) the course has been overbooked or just a mess. The course is in decent condition. The pace of play could not be any worse. With a two-some it has taken me well over 5.5 hours to finish through 18. The course is only 6,300 yards so it’s not an abnormally long course. If you play golf here you are going to experience an average course with average amenities. You can play two 18 hole rounds at another course in the time it takes you to play one round here - mark my words.
Great layout
Although the course has some bad areas on alot of the tee boxes, the layout is fantastic, greens and fairways are in excellent condition. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking for a challenging but fair golf course. Chris and Mark are so friendly and helpful.
Prepare for gnats
Was a fun round with family/friends. Course was in decent shape though yardage and certain holes (tee boxes, fairways and greens) had their bad moments. The worst part were the gnats... they were everywhere and impacted most shots. Have been there multiple times and had a similar issue but never to this extreme.
Good course and value
Ive played Red Bridge several times. It will beat you up if your off the mark, but open enough to allow an amateur to really go for long shots. Winter Kill really hurt quite a few courses and RB is no exception.
