Red Bridge Golf and Country Club
About
Red Bridge Golf & Country Club in Locust is routed through stands of mature trees that give the course a peacefully secluded feel. The layout wanders across gently rolling hills, providing a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. There is a stream that runs throughout the golf course, coming into play on a few holes. The course is seemingly long at 7,100 yards from the back tees but it's more forgiving than it appears, which means players of all skill levels can enjoy the golf course. The design relied heavily on the natural features of the landscape, allowing the course to blend seamlessly into the natural surroundings while also shaping natural hazards. There are also strategically placed bunkers throughout Red Bridge that complement rather than overtake the natural challenges.

Good course however
The bugs flying around our head were bad the entire round. The counter / check in person was not helpful. No permanent bathrooms on the course. Could be a nice place but needs a leader.
Hot, lots of bugs and one rude ranger
The course was in good shape. There were millions of knots. Saw a huge copperhead between 10 and 11. The biggest issue my group had was the ranger. We had to wait on a really slow group in front of us. We waited on every shot. The ranger watched us play 4-5 holes and wait, then had the nerve to come tell us to speed up! How can we speed up if that group is so slow. We just kept playing and finished in a little over 5 hours! We didn’t complain about the pace even though it was slow, we complained about the ranger for not being good at his job.
Great as always
Awesome course greens rolled nice had a great round
Hidden Treasure for Charlotte Golfers
Great course for all levels of golfers! Fun and challenging holes. The greens roll true, cannot wait to play Red Bridge again.
Bumpy greens
Normally a favorite but greens have beeen invaded with a lot of Poa Anna and were bumpy. Fairways coming in finally like most around area. Tee boxes little to no grass as is the case with driving range. Still a great layout and fun to play.
Disappointing
This course is usually a hidden gem, but boy was I disappointed today. I love Red Bridge and am sad to say the course was awful! NO grass on most tee boxes, some of the greens have weeds growing on them and others have no grass on important parts of the fringe. The only reason for the poor rating is the poor course conditions. The course is beautifully laid out, has both challenging and scorable holes and the greens are usually in great shape. Hope the course conditions improve.
Double Booked
Course pro told us Golf Now double booked the afternoon overlapping a tournament. When we got there, there were no available carts. Had to wait and it took us 5 hours to play. Had to wait between every shot, which was not enjoyable at all.
Slow play and beat up greens
Completely disappointed. My tee time was pushed back a 1/2 hour. Plus, it took over 6 hours to finish the round because of double booking and a tournament is what I was told.
5 1/2 hour round
Front 9 has 3 par 3’s and 3 par 5’s. It took 3 hours to play front nine as tees were stacked two and three deep at almost every tee box through the first 13 holes. After that the pace of play smoothed out but by then the round was nearly over. The fairways were hard and greens were bumpy. I would not recommend playing this course on a weekend if you have other options due to pace of play. No one inside clubhouse was trying to move the groups on that were backing the course up.
Very slow play. Tee boxes dirt.
5.5 hour pace of play. Marshalls did not try very hard to get the groups ahead of us to speed things up. We had 6 guys in front of us who would all congregate at the tee box on every hole and then they would tee off in groups of two. I did not expect the fairways to be in great shape given that it has still been pretty cold however the tee boxes were mostly mounds of dirt and the greens very patchy with weeds. I would not recommend this course. Only positive, the guys in the golf shop seemed nice.
Condition of course
I love course layout. Challenging and fun. Very very disappointed in condition of greens. Far too many weeds affecting putts. Have not seen any evidence in correcting this situation. Disappointing as it presents early sign of course in decline. I know it is winter time but green condition isn’t exactly new event. Many tee blocks are in poor condition summer temps can’t come soon enough. Will take awhile to recover. Will return when I hear evidence green problems have been addressed and corrected.
Great layout, challenging but fair
Great course. Conditions were good considering time of year when all bermuda ia dormant. Fairways were firm even after a soggy couple of week, could use aeration.Greens rolled true, were slow on the day played but were wet from a rain shower that rumbled through. Greens had poanna growing throughtout which created landmines on the green that could knock a well struck putt offline. Our group had a struggle on the #3 par 5 which caused us to get off pace a bit. After being ask by the Ranger to pick up pace on #7. He preceed to follow us, "stalk" our group and set up in our sightlines off the tee. Other than hole #3, we were 3/4 of a hole ahead of the group behind us. Please after a group is ask to increase speed of play, give time to do so before you follow then to every tee and fairway for 6 holes.
Good round
Course was in good shape! Greens were better than the fairway. Pace of play was terrible for the front 9 but was real fast on the back. Not sure if someone left that was slow or not. Great place to play and will be back!
Place has changed
Red Bridge used to be one of the best courses around. Not so much anymore. Fairways were like concrete, greens were slow and had weeds growing in them. Group in front of us was playing from the tips and could barely hit the ball 100 yards. Took us almost 2 hours to play 7 holes. They refused to let us pass. Finally we just skipped the 8th hole and passed them.
