Red Bridge Golf and Country Club

About
Red Bridge Golf & Country Club in Locust is routed through stands of mature trees that give the course a peacefully secluded feel. The layout wanders across gently rolling hills, providing a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. There is a stream that runs throughout the golf course, coming into play on a few holes. The course is seemingly long at 7,100 yards from the back tees but it's more forgiving than it appears, which means players of all skill levels can enjoy the golf course. The design relied heavily on the natural features of the landscape, allowing the course to blend seamlessly into the natural surroundings while also shaping natural hazards. There are also strategically placed bunkers throughout Red Bridge that complement rather than overtake the natural challenges.

Greens are bumpy and need to remove bad grass
I always enjoy playing here and since it has dried out over the last 2 weeks I played the tips. The only problem I really had was with the greens. Over the last year the miniverde greens have been invaded by small patches of foreign grasses which make the greens bumpy and knock putts off line. This really needs to be cleaned up ASAP!
In the mean time if they rolled the greens and cut the greens down so the foreign grass was the same height as the minverde it would definitely help!
Red Bridge Golf Course
I hadn't played here in years, but wanted to try it out again. The staff in the club house were amazing, incredibly helpful. The course itself is a really nice course with a great layout. The greens needed some work, but the tee boxes and fairways were in great shape. Course wasn't too crowded and weather was perfect. Highly recommend this course!

Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. We see you rated the course 2-stars and are interested in learning what we can do to improve for your next visit. We take customer feedback very seriously at our course. Please reach out to our team in the golf shop and tell us what's on your mind. Thank you for playing Red Bridge Golf and Country Club.
Red bridge
Greens are pretty bad poanna really bad on a lot of greens tee boxes were a little off also
Very friendly staff, and wide open layout
-The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming.
-Driving range is in good shape and you can tell they take care of it w/ sand to replace divots when you're done.
-Putting green is comparable in conditions and speed to the actual course (something you don't see everywhere).
-It's very generous off the tee w/ plenty of landing area, especially if you're willing to play each hole as it was meant to be played (rather than trying to cut corners and hit blind shots).
-While the greens were in bad shape w/ lots of Poa Annua throughout, we were given a warning by the staff in the clubhouse upon check-in. The greens should improve as the temperatures start to rise. I can see these greens being fast/true in June/July.
I just need to see the greens get better before I would recommend this course to a friend, especially for $60/round.

Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back at Red Bridge Golf and Country Club!
Great course, disappointing condition as of 04/10/2021
We have played here many times over the years, probably at least 30 times. As with every course, the course condition varies by season. Currently, this course is in below-average condition which was very disappointing to see. It does not appear that anything was done to prevent Poa and other weeds from moving in and boy have they. Most greens are covered with Poa which really screws up putting. Separately, the tee boxes are in terrible condition although the tee boxes had far less impact on play than the greens. It really is a great course and definitely challenging but (man!) those greens need help ASAP. The staff is always great. We would have like to see a beverage cart though being a Saturday and with plenty of players on-course to make it worth the time and labor cost. I will be back, many more times probably, but Ill definitely be avoiding the place for a couple months for them to turn their greens around.

We are not happy with our course conditions at this time either. We have sprayed the poa annua on the greens and will continue to work on them to get them back into shape as quickly as we can. We will also work on the tee boxes when the weather warms a little more and allows the Bermuda grass to start growing again. We expect the course to be much better by early May. Please feel free to check back with us about conditions before playing again.

Many greens had small weeds popping through resulting in poor putting conditions.

We are not happy with the conditions either and are working on them. Please bear with us as it takes time to get the poa annua out of the greens. They should be much improved by early May. Please check back with us in the pro shop to get an update on conditions.

Not the course it use to be
Greens and tee boxes are in bad shape!!!! Hard to believe this course has gotten worse in the past two months.

Greens Could Be Better
I've always enjoyed playing Red Bridge but the most recent experience was not very good. We played behind a very slow 4-some and the ranger could not do anything except telling them to "speed it up a little". The course was packed with golfers on a Tuesday due to a Tuesday special discount. The greens were as bad as I've played anywhere. They were fast but full of weed clumps which would knock your gentle putts of course most of the time.
Other than those, the course is good.

Piwer Thru the Poa
Every course has excuses why their conditions aren’t pristine & worthy of our $. Last summer/fall/winter was disastrous for many local courses but lack of proper minimum maintenance is inexcusable. Several teeing areas are barren, most greens are 10-25% Poa Annuna even though much has been eradicated. I like the layout with it’s elevation changes, varying lengths of par 3s & potentially reachable par 5s, the R 2 L & L 2 R doglegs & decent layup areas off the tees. The current staff is ambivalent & not the most friendly at the counter but the marshals are at least conversational. Even w the less than stellar conditions it’s OK to play & pay the Sr rate but you’ll have to Power thru the Poa.

9 Out of 10
Super fun layout!
-Best greens around
-Challenging BUT forgiving
-Range in good shape
-Pace is always 4-5 hour round
Greens need attention
Tee boxes are bare and greens do not roll true due to weeds mixed on the greens. Those things need attention. Other than that a great course layout and nice fairways.!!

Challenging layout.
Fairways and roughs were in winter condition. Greens held the approach shot well, were medium speed, not rolling quite true due to weeds.
Great layout/Conditions need to improve
Greens had another species of grass growing in it and workers have been hand picking out of several greens but all greens have it. Tee boxes also need some TLC.

Lot of potential, just needs a little more TLC
Layout / unique aesthetic is fantastic and really felt it could compete with any public spots around Charlotte in that regard. Unique tee-shot selection on a few holes and overall didn’t have a gimmicky feel. Fairways / bunkering / tall pines are also course highlights and generally in good shape. All the par-5s (outside 18) are reachable if you can turn the ball over for a few. Seen a good bit of rain past few days, and while there was some mud throughout, the course seems to drain well.
Feel there is a lot of potential for the course, but the greens need some work before I’d recommend to friends and be a semi-frequent visitor. They do flag ahead of the reservation they are having some green issues (indicated they are working on it), so kudos to the crew for that! Outside of the issue they flagged, the pace green-to-green felt inconsistent, which was odd.
In terms of pace of play, it’s slower as others have pointed out. I was a single and instead of pairing me with a twosome teeing off ahead of me, they kept us as separate groups. While that itself isn’t necessarily an issue when just a few people are playing that day, that decision making ultimately creates more groups and slows down the entire course.
I do intend to try it out again throughout the year, given the team has indicated they are working on the greens and liked the layout.

Great Course - Greens have Poa Annua
Played the course many times over the year. Always great to play. The only issue going on currently is some poa annua grass in the greens. They are working hard to remove it, but it does affect some of the putts. Other than that, highly recommend as usual.

Hello, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give us another try in the near future. Thanks for choosing Red Bridge Golf and Country Club.

The winter was tough on our greens and was perfect for poa annua, which is what has invaded our greens. We have been working on them and sprayed them numerous times to try and eradicate the poa. The greens should be better within a few weeks. Please check back with us to confirm conditions. Thanks for playing Red Bridge.
