The Highlands Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: The course is temporarily closed.
The Highlands golf course is one of three courses owned and operated by Meadows Country Club. In addition to the Highlands and Meadows Courses, there is also the Arthur Hills-designed Groves Course, an 18-hole executive course. The Highlands Course has an "old Florida" layout equipped with plenty of trees and water that tumble across gentle hills. You'll be playing through majestic oaks and towering pines as you take on this challenging-but-fair test. Narrow, tree-lined fairways and small greens demand accuracy but generously the reward well placed shot. The golf course finishes with a tricky par 4. Your tee shot will to be straight and accurate to avoid the fairway bunkers on the left and right, positioning you for a mid iron back into a green that sloped front-to-back and guarded by bunkers on both sides. There is also a lake to the front left.

Hidden Gem
This is a Fantastic course. Staff is friendly. The course is challenging but not over the top. Course is in very good condition. I consider this my home course
I am sad to write this review
My father-in-law, who recently passed away,, had been a member of the Meadows Country club for decades. I’ve enjoyed playing with at the courses and have many fond memories of each of the three courses. Since my wife and I were staying in the area we wanted to have a round there in his honor. While it was easy to book a tee-time and the check in process was smooth, the condition of the Highland’s course made for a very disappointing day. The tee boxes were mostly dirt, the greens in poor condition, the fairways and rough very uneven and the cart paths in need to much repair. Our cart broke down on the 6th hole and while the pro shop quickly drove out a replacement that did not have a GPS system so we switched carts again at the turn. They did not have cup covers for their water colors and several seemed to be non functional. it did not appear that there were any refreshments available for purchase at the turn. It is a shame that this course has deteriorated over the years. It was a wonderful facility. I surely hope they can get it back in shape.
Rough Condition
Greens were in average condition.
Fairways were poor. Very very short grass.
needs a ranger
Slow play ( 5 hours); tees in terrible shape; greens are weedy; ALL PAR 3'S were temporary tees no longer than 65 yards. Know one in the pro shop or the starter ever mentioned this to us. For the amount of money paid / $85.00 was a total rip-off. This is a tourist/ snowbird trap. Play any other course but this!!!!!!!!!
staff
cart barn was excellent they had great attitudes and they were very helpful explaining the lay out of the course and getting to the first hole
Second class player…?
Booking with GolfNow, we don’t have access to the driving range . Only for members.
Highlands course, like 2 different courses
The front 9, the tee boxes were a disaster, hardly any grass. Condition was a bit rough. Greens were okay,.
The back 9 was in great condition, and we really enjoyed it. It’s a puzzle! Still a good value with a hot deal rate.
For a first timer, it’s also a bit hard to find because every turn in around there says the Meadows. At first, we were at the tennis complex, which had a number of golf carts lined up by the entrance. There is a sign that says golf, but our GPS had long since given up. We also found it a little confusing to follow the signs to find the first tee. So if it’s your first time, allow plenty of extra time to wander.
Christmas Day round
A tale of two nines. Front side was rough and looked unkept. Back side was fine.
Could be better.
Very confusing with construction going on! Detour directions not very well marked. On course, 1st 3 or 4 greens were very rough. Much better rest of the way. After the round, snack bar and lounge both closed!! No 19th hole!! Still like playing the course but was much better last year!!
The Highlands
Greens on the front side a little rough. The back side was good.
It looked like February conditions as far as being used. It is a little tired.
