The Highlands Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: The course is temporarily closed.
The Highlands golf course is one of three courses owned and operated by Meadows Country Club. In addition to the Highlands and Meadows Courses, there is also the Arthur Hills-designed Groves Course, an 18-hole executive course. The Highlands Course has an "old Florida" layout equipped with plenty of trees and water that tumble across gentle hills. You'll be playing through majestic oaks and towering pines as you take on this challenging-but-fair test. Narrow, tree-lined fairways and small greens demand accuracy but generously the reward well placed shot. The golf course finishes with a tricky par 4. Your tee shot will to be straight and accurate to avoid the fairway bunkers on the left and right, positioning you for a mid iron back into a green that sloped front-to-back and guarded by bunkers on both sides. There is also a lake to the front left.

Not Bad
I played the Highlands course. The front nine was really different, relatively short and tight but the course conditions were not good. It has a lot of crabgrass was was in generally poor condition. The back nine saved a much poorer review score as the course conditions were much better. With all the great courses in the area, I would recommend numerous others before this one.
Good Value on a Scenic Golf Course
The highlands is a good value for the price. The tree-lined layout requires precision placement off the tee, The 6500 yard layout from the blues is challenging enough but there are 4 other sets of tees for a variety of players. The greens are ok but they do have some rough/bare spots . The green speeds are medium with greenside bunkers strategically placed. The layout is challenging but fair. The only reason this course doesn't get 5 stars is that the greenside chipping areas are often not the best. For some reason they also tend to overwater certain areas around the course so you will end up getting a number of soggy lies in some fairway areas and around some of the greens. It remains a good challenging value.
Great value
Front nine is very tight and challenging but the back nine opens up and is a ton of fun!
Slow play from group of 12 in front
We stopped playing after the 12th hole as we had already spent 3-hours on the course and were expecting to be finished by 3PM (it was 2:45). Way to tedious to wait on every hole.
What a disappointment !!
We played this course for well over 10 years..3/4 times/ year...We have never seen it so run down... fairways we're playable..but tee boxes were in disrepair....and They lost ALL the greens on front nine and more on back...
Crabgrass on first cut..plus on main cut..whole patches of sand and hardpan in middle of many greens....
What happened to your course..???
Highlands with Joe
Course is coming along well the rough needed to be cut in some areas they were working on it. The greens have been patched and they need to take maybe raked to get the surface loose. Understandable.
Course under repair
Greens are HORRIBLE. Fairways a close second. Very difficult to maneuver around all construction at the Highlands parking lot.
Highlands
A beautiful Sunny day for golf with lower temperature and humidity. Course was in pretty good condition from tee to green, however a few greens need to have crab grass removed. Greens were pretty slow. Not a lot of players on the course n the afternoon and pace was excellent.
nice layout but course is in very rough shape
the greens were poor at best, very slow and cups had a crown.
couldn't really put with all the patches etc on the green.
basically just got my swings in after driving 1400 miles the previous 2 days.
golf
greens were a little patchy in areas tee boxes could use a little work. fairways are in great shape second cut is very workable. pace of play was good. joined a married couple who played well and we had an enjoyable round. this course has a very convenient concession stand at the turn. liked the play will return.
The Highlands Course at the Meadows CC
I played the Highlands 9/30/21 and found it to be a great property. Pro Shop staff are friendly and helpful. The carts are all clean with gps. The course is in very good shape and is well maintained.. Overall The Highlands is a great choice for a round of golf at this time of the year. It is not expensive and easy to get to.
Highlands
Course was in good shape except for repair to most of the greens. Expected this time of year. We were unable to play 2 holes due to irradiation issues.
