The Highlands golf course is one of three courses owned and operated by Meadows Country Club. In addition to the Highlands and Meadows Courses, there is also the Arthur Hills-designed Groves Course, an 18-hole executive course. The Highlands Course has an "old Florida" layout equipped with plenty of trees and water that tumble across gentle hills. You'll be playing through majestic oaks and towering pines as you take on this challenging-but-fair test. Narrow, tree-lined fairways and small greens demand accuracy but generously the reward well placed shot. The golf course finishes with a tricky par 4. Your tee shot will to be straight and accurate to avoid the fairway bunkers on the left and right, positioning you for a mid iron back into a green that sloped front-to-back and guarded by bunkers on both sides. There is also a lake to the front left.

Fun course to play. Great layout. Greens were a little rough. Numerous sandy areas on greens needed maintenance attention. Good value for golf in Florida.
Course play
Could have been in better condition. Greens a little slow, but a nice layout. Staff excellent.
Greens need work
The course is challenging, well set up with some very interesting and difficult holes. But, over the years, the greens have become spotted and some outright ratty. The carts need to give a warning before locking out with "Return to cart path"... very aggravating.
The staff is cordial, service was good. But, the course needs some TLC, especially the greens.
Greens were pretty bad on the front nine. A lot better on the back nine.
Save your momey!
The greens are DEAD. What little grass was on the front nine greens was patchy and 3/4 inch high. An absolute joke! The back nine greens were a little better but many bare spots.
Wouldn't play this course again for free.
Could be better
The course is generally in OK condition, but many of the greens are very slow, and need a good deal of work to get them up to "good" condition. Play was slow, but if the management would have a ranger on the course this would be a great improvement.
High lands sarasota
Don't play. Greens are very bad. Rot on every green fairways like bumpy.
