The Highlands Golf Course

About
The Highlands golf course is one of three courses owned and operated by Meadows Country Club. In addition to the Highlands and Meadows Courses, there is also the Arthur Hills-designed Groves Course, an 18-hole executive course. The Highlands Course has an "old Florida" layout equipped with plenty of trees and water that tumble across gentle hills. You'll be playing through majestic oaks and towering pines as you take on this challenging-but-fair test. Narrow, tree-lined fairways and small greens demand accuracy but generously the reward well placed shot. The golf course finishes with a tricky par 4. Your tee shot will to be straight and accurate to avoid the fairway bunkers on the left and right, positioning you for a mid iron back into a green that sloped front-to-back and guarded by bunkers on both sides. There is also a lake to the front left.

Not One To Re-Visit
Pulling up to the course clubhouse, all seem to be in good shape. The staff was friendly, the pro shop was nicely designed, and everyone appeared to make it a welcoming place. Things change quickly, however, when the person in the pro shop told us that the front line of the course we were signed up to play were in her words “in horrific condition.” She encouraged us to start on 10 and then play our second jone on their other course.
Next, we asked about using the nice looking range outside. We were told, “it’s for members only. There’s some hitting nets across the street, about five minutes away, that you can use.”
Determined to make the most of our outing, we went ahead and played the course despite our hesitation. Though the fairways were in disrepair, and it was hard at times to tell fairways from rough, the greens were generally nice, and soft. Our first nine holes on the highlands was passable. Not worth the cost of the round. I cannot even bring myself to review the second nine holes on the course they call the Groves.
It should be noted the staff at every interaction were fabulous. I wish I could transport them to a better course.
Great layout … some horrible gee s
While I appreciate that we played the morning after a slight rain, none of the greens on the back nine were cut (we started on the back) and nearly half of the greens on the front had sever damage and was nearly unplayable.
The design of this course is very good and requires thinking about your club selection so it is a fun course in that regard. However, the greens condition sucks all the fun out of the round.
Worth a try-
Nice Course till you get to the greens. Staff is great. Still a good value and a nice course layout.
Bad conditions, rude administration.
They should have paid me to play it. They scheduled a kid's tournament but still took reservations even though we couldn't play. Nobody seems to care. Green was especially bad.
very nice course
quite pleasant environment. Not so easy fairways. Lots of birds and wild life. Quiet.
The greens need to be greatly improved.
Ice and cold water stations along the course . So quite enjoyable.Nice bar but the real one which is reserved for members is much nicer. Altogether a fine golfing experience.
Back nine were in much better shape than front. Front nine greens left a lot to be desired.
Awful greens
The greens on the front nine were in really bad shape. Staff was friendly and very helpful.
