The Groves Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: The course is temporarily closed.
Designed by Arthur Hills, the Groves Golf Course may be a "short" course but it's still a challenge. It's one of three courses operated by Meadows Country Club. With a layout that sprawls across more than 50 acres, the par-63 layout feels more like a championship par-72 course. The layout is comprised of nine par 4s, eight par 3s, and one par 5. The course rewards accuracy and good shot placement, meaning it's not strength that matters but being able to strategize. The seventh hole is a memorable par 3 that appears simple enough thanks to a massive and seemingly inviting green, but the problem isn't hitting the green but getting your shot on the same level as the pin. There is a 5-foot slope that runs through the green, the severity of which is matched only by some of the greens at Augusta National.

Course is in Ecellent Condition
The Groves is in excellent summer condition. Greens are true and smooth. Fairways are in very good shape. Bermuda rough is high. During scorching summer days it was nice to be able to play in 2 and a half hours with no one ahead to slow my pace of play. Golf doesn't get much better than that. Being an executive course with only 1 par 5, a driver isn't needed but the double-tiered greens that slope away on crowned greens are still a great challenge. Water on all 18 holes can also come into play. A fun challenge and a great summer value through golfnow.
Best short course I the area.
Got to play the couse on a hot deal which was totally worth the price.
Pros;
Staff was very friendly and answered all my questions.
Carts were in good shape.
Greens were in good shape. A couple greens had small bare spots but not a big deal. The also rolled good and the ball one hopped and stopped.
Cons;
Tee boxes were fluffy and some wear spots. But there was plenty of area for quality lie and footing.
Fairways were also fluffy with alot crab grass but playable
No driving range and the cooler at the turn/ 1st hole was put of water on a mid 90's summer day.
The cons are miniscule compared to the layout, quality and price to play here.
**No driving range
Golf with Boys
Clubhouse staff were great. Cart attendant ls were grumpy men. Golf school kids held up play. Course for a par 65 has a nice layout. Care for course average for a public course. With some attention it could be a nice place.
Premier Executive Course
The double- tiered greens were in very good shape, rolling true but at average speeds The rest of the course is in fine shape as the recent rains have really improved fairway conditions. Playing as a single the pace was excellent at 2 hours for 18. Sand in the bunkers was a little harder than I prefer but likely due to recent rains. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is the lack of a pre-round practice area (neither a range nor practice nets). The new carts are excellent along with on-board GPS. A fun challenge with water penalty areas on every hole and tricky greens.
A Great Executive Course
The Groves ican be a real challenge. Water can be in play on all 18 holes. The greens present a real challenge due to double tiers on every single hole.and are the main defence of the course. Fairways and tee grounds were in decent shape. Greens had been aerated and had not fully recovered but rolled ok, howecer with less break than usual. Green speeds were average..Pace of play as a single was excellent (2 hours for 18)..
Currently aerated Greens
The Groves is a fine executive golf course and I love playing there. The pace of play was excellent at under 3 hours for a twosome. The course is in good shape throughout except the greens have been aerated/sanded making it very challenging to get a true roll. Aeration made rolling a putt on line a virtual lottery.😊 Regardless, that course is always fun to play.. The new golf carts are very comfortable and the gps system is nice. There were plenty of water coolers around the course. I also noticed a number of course improvements including mulch fill-in on the cart path at #2 and a new cart bridge at #10.. Fairways & chipping areas were generally very good. One major disapointment is that the Groves DOES NOT offer access to a driving range nor practice nets for warm-up prior a round.
Rude Cart Man
Cart man who met us at 11:30am was very unfriendly. The gentleman who greeted us at 3:30pm when we finished the round was very pleasant. I think the manager should be aware that there are many courses available in the summer. A rude employee can kill the experience and drive customers away.
Groves
The greens are punched with light sand and the fairways are groove cut. This executive course is challenging and the right length for the summer heat. My wife and I enjoy it.
$25 would be a fair price
The layout of this course is nice, the staff is friendly and the fairways are in decent shape. Everything else is less then 1 star. First, the only people that can use the driving range are the members of the championship course, however they do have a chipping and putting green for the non-member course. On this day they were holding a camp for a youth golf program on those areas. I think that’s great that they do that for the kids but if you came to golf with any want to warm up you are out of luck. To cap off the disappointment the greens are in horrible shape, and by the looks of them they have been in bad shape for a long time.
