The Groves Golf Course
About
Editor's Note: The course is temporarily closed.
Designed by Arthur Hills, the Groves Golf Course may be a "short" course but it's still a challenge. It's one of three courses operated by Meadows Country Club. With a layout that sprawls across more than 50 acres, the par-63 layout feels more like a championship par-72 course. The layout is comprised of nine par 4s, eight par 3s, and one par 5. The course rewards accuracy and good shot placement, meaning it's not strength that matters but being able to strategize. The seventh hole is a memorable par 3 that appears simple enough thanks to a massive and seemingly inviting green, but the problem isn't hitting the green but getting your shot on the same level as the pin. There is a 5-foot slope that runs through the green, the severity of which is matched only by some of the greens at Augusta National.

Good short game course … very friendly staff … it may be a par 63 course but plays like a par 72 … accuracy is a must .. if your right or left of the target moguls will bounce your shot into the schmutes or Into the water … greens are good but very few straight putts everything breaks right or left … but prepared to accept lots of 3 putts … but it is a great course… you will very much enjoy TRYING to tame it …. Go play you’ll be glad you did … I will defiantly be back …I got my butt kicked and now I know how it plays … I shot an 81 … but very much enjoyed the challenge.
Grounds kept nicely
Not a lot of holes that are 400+, but I liked using different clubs from the various tees.
Good for your short game
Greens are rock hard and holding them is nearly impossible. Fairways are firm but have fair amounts of grass despite dry months. T boxes are in decent shape. Snowbirds are gone so pace of play is good on weekdays, midafternoon is best. Most holes on the back feed into ponds on one or more sides so accurate approaches are needed. Kinda fun par three executive course with some par fours and short fives thrown in. At $25 for 18 in afternoon’s after 3:00 I would recommend!
Good thing it was cheap
Course is poorly laid out and marked. Flags next to flags. Couldn’t figure out the 9th hole and couldn’t figure out how to get back. Aesthetically it’s boring and beat up. The staff was nice.
Groves
Course is in pretty good shape for the time of year.
WORTH THE MONEY
Groves has dropped its rates since Snowbird season is over. Good greens with challenging holes.
